RE: sexton
a good heavy grease and som lucas mixed in cured the noise but in a t34 the gearboxes on the real one are even noisier
|
RE: sexton
Loads of torque in them which helps:D
my T34 almost climbs a tree[X(][X(][X(] |
RE: sexton
just add the heavy grease and they will be fine the gear boxs that is they arwe tough and with the 360 motors they have plenty of torque

well a few have asked how to build the 3 piece gear dive for the old style trans for the sherman here are some pics of the parts involved
the first 2 pics are of the bearing floater i made to hold the bearing and the outdrives in place on the tamtoy gear box the side with the bearing replaces the original bearing in the TT gear box on the side the out drive fits on the next 2 pics show the adapter pressed into the pershing out drive next you make 2 72 mm cross bars and thread each end 3mm so you can srew the 2 out drives together using the holes allready in the outdrives pics 5 6 show the 2 out drive bolted together awaiting the next step more to come |

Bubbajoexx,
How about some more pics or videos of your completed Sherman's. Came across this old thread from another. That trans you built is awesome. I would love a step by step thread on that alone. Your tanks look fantastic. Jim |
RE: sexton
Hi Love the gearbox covers and the use of the Pershing gearcases (where did you find the pershing gearcases),
The Tamtoy gears have a few of them and have modified them ,If you check them out they suffer from poor tolerances ,as usual from China (good ideas spoilt by slap happy tolerances),The fix is quite easy 3mm reamer and 3mm silversteel, reamall the bushes and gears 3mm then change the shaftswith the 3mm silversteel, takes about 40mins,gears run better quiter no backlash. regards pete |
RE: sexton
the gear boxes for the pershing where purchased from JR RC on flee bay
|
RE: sexton
That is some really good work Bubba. The gear set up looks bullet proof.
|
RE: sexton
Thank You the setup is rock solid and will give the scale speed needed for the sherman will post a vid of the running unit this week have done testing on the setup and so far it has run perfect these gear housings can also be used in the KT for more stable track control and scale speed just attach them in the same location as the plastic gear housing cove on the outside gear case on the inside then attached to the factory gearbox moved back 3/4 " and you have real gear housings with full bearing support will be doing my KT soon and will post the build
