RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...

Hal, I have been searching absolutely every where and it seems the Soviet had too much pride to use the enemies tank other than to exploit weaknesses. Not to say this didn't happen, but I can't find anything and would love if someone could reveal a source.<div>
</div><div> Hell, I read that the soviet army thought any military that uses "helmets" were inferior which is why you don't see any soviet infantry men with helmets. Wonder how many lives that would have saved, ....not that helmets of that time were good for anything but protect you from falling debris and carrying water! lol</div>

Jimmy,
thanks, I know about this forum + as well as quite some others (in Russian) that cover this topic.
And they ( at forum.axis) only talk about one story, we know at least three cases of use Tiger-1 by Soviet Army troops.
But what I was asking - photos (probably you have come across)- not just facts or cases. :)

But thanks again for the input.

Interesting they say that this one was captured and then used in service. Why do they make such a resolution?

RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...

I see Bowlman found the thread I started on AxisHistory almost 6 months ago! lol I was trying to do a little research back then, before I put Russian stars on my Tiger. The stars were short lived though, and the magnetic mounts I made for them broke off during the Dragon Tooth Bridge collision in April. Maybe the stars might find their way back on the tank sometime in the future.

That one photo with the "4" (inside a diamond) on the storage bin is the only photo I have seen that seems to indicate a Russian marked Tiger.

Guys,
came across last week this info - A44 prototype.

This was the partly realized project of 1941- "SovietHeavy Tank A-44".

Designed Mass - 25-29 tons.
75 mm -armmour in front and turret, 60 mm armour from the sides.
Main gun - 76,2 mm ZIS-5 or 57 mm ZIS-4 (latter one with two machine guns in the turret).
Two DTmachine guns in the front(it was also intended to install two firethrowing guns instead)

Gun wasto make 100 shots and 6000 rounds for machine guns.
