RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
That's the Maus VIII orTiger-Maus E100(more likely the E100).....I thought none seen action? Why is there camo on it.......also the photo looks a bit photoshopped...not 100% sure though, but indeed looks fake.None of my books have it with camo on and the prototypes that were almost ready to go were apprehended by the Russians and experimented on.</p> |
RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
The photo is definately a fake.

RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
You guy's have not seen this photo your kidding it is a photo from the what if site also none as Germany ww2 X-Files a bunch of pics of German Tanks that were on the drawing board and would of came out if the war would of went on for a few more years .

RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
And the photo's make good background images for your monitor I have a few running in background slide show in windows 7 .

RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
Interesting.....but the Maus was more than a drawing or blue print. Google it and you'll see the working prototypes.
|
RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
Yes some were prototypes were made but the war was over for Germany before they were ever ready for production but some of them were well on the way to could of been .

RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
Okay, you were just making reference to that fake photo. lol
Although it's fake....that really give a good idea of how menacing that tank would have looked like. :D That would be a great RC tank to produce at 1/16 scale. |
RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
Yep would be there is a photo of a few what if the war would of went better for Germany at the link I posted above im looking at a background artist painting of a Tiger III off the cliffs of dover England Mar 1946

None of my books have it with camo on and the prototypes that were almost ready to go were apprehended by the Russians and experimented on.</p> That looks like a heavily photoshopped rendition of the Tiger III Ausf S. Probably started with a King Tiger pic and went from there. You can clearly see that the rear is completely different than the Maus in this actual picture. Here's about the best pic's I have found of the actual Maus prototypes. http://strangevehicles.greyfalcon.us...III%20MAUS.htm I really wish they would have built these but not as much as the fighter bomber pilots of the time. RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
Your correct, that's not the Maus. Although the photo is a fake. That is supposed to be the Maus-Tiger (not Maus VIII) which was abandoned by Hitler. Then 6 months later, reassigned to Adler to create the E100 which was to be exactly as the Maus-Tiger but the war was over by the time they were near completion. The E100 was supposed to utilize the hull similar to the KT and keep the Maus turret. The photo's in my book show the unfinished hull which looks exactly as the fake photo. It is a shame these were never fully produced.</p> |
RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
Hal's Tiger III picture looks more like an E-100 chassis with a Maus turret on it than anything else, except the gun barrel looks too thin.
Intelligence Bulletin March 1946 about the Maus: http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/maus/index.html It is interesting to note they made mention of the KV1 and KV2 when discussing the possible psychological effects on soldiers at the early stages of a war when encountering "new" LARGE enemy tanks for the first time (at the end of the article). Maybe the "crap your pants" / gawking factor was and could be an issue in the future for new, non-combat hardened troops. |

I think what he probably meant to say was this: You mean to tell me you guys have not seen this photo before? You must be kidding, right? It is a photo from the what if site, also known as Germany WW2 X-Files. It contains many pictures of German Tanks that were on the drawing board, and may have materialized, if the war would have continued on for a few more years. Bowlman, this is not meant to be an attack on your skill set, I'm sure you have better skills in certain areas where 1st Sgt and myself are lacking. Some people will probably get mad at me for making a post like this. Yet, just like not everyone has the same writing skills or comprehension skills, not everyone is familiar with the photos that HAL posted. Like HAL for example.. At the same time, I know HAL probably knows a LOT more about Russian armor than most people on this forum do. Nobody knows everything, but everybody knows something that someone else doesn't :) I rarely make posts like this, must be in one of those moods tonight.. By the way, I'm sure an English Professor could pick apart my translation of Bowlman's post. So, it is all relative. Happy Tanking! |

ORIGINAL: RSEA ...HAL probably knows a LOT more about Russian armor ... 2 all Guys, thanx 4 all your input info, this is awesome to me. I am working now at some as I call it "fairy-tail German X-Files tank prototype". That is why I am interested in all facts of German secret project that were realised or even thought about. I will post the pic and moviewhen it is ready. The idea is very interesting (I guess)... |
RE: MISTERIOUS TANKS...
The picture shown is of an E100 missing its side armour, this picture is of a 1/35 model that has been extensively Photo shopped, there was only ever 1 E100 built or in reality in the process of being built this supposedly shared the Maus turret, the designation of Tiger III is interesting as this was the original title for Tiger II (King Tiger) this project was brought forward and given the title Tiger II, I believe that E75 was to take the title Tiger III, the only E100 partially built was captured by the English and returned to Bovington where the construction was completed, I understand the trials also took place at Bovington though I have never seen a report on this, once trials where completed this along with various other German AFV’s was scrapped, the only supper heavy tank surviving is in Russia this is the Mause which is made of at least 2 Mause that where destroyed to prevent them falling intact into Russian hands

ORIGINAL: Bunting Tosser "It is a shame these were never fully produced" I take it the guy that says something like this - has had no ancestor's in uniform - fighting the Germans or for Freedom. Bunts If you too indulge into any RC tanks or their German armor, specifically German tanks....I could equally say that you toohave no understanding ofthose who have fought Germans for Freedom. To glorify the death machines in RC scale or memorabilia originallycreated to suppress all those deemed below their Nazi nation. But this is a frigging RC tank forum, in which we or most are Tank enthusiasts who love the machine, not for what it stood for. Seriously, ......get a grip. To note, yes I have relatives who have fought in uniform in all wars and most sides. What you see inmy avatar is just that, since your a face value kind of guy who is not capable of reading outside the lines.I am aresult of multiple races, (Black, Vietnamese/Thai, German.) You know what they say about assumptions though......that's not always correct. Sometimes it just makes an "***" out of you. |
