- 5k and 7k in the front (depending on how blown out the track gets that time of the week)
- 15k in the center
- 2k or 5k in the rear

5-15-2 or 7-15-5

That's all you should need to take them by storm.. Good Luck.. it's club night again tomorrow, we'll see how we do down here in Texas.

i'm still running my original NUBZ (soft compound) from the SS kit.. tons of grip and almost too much (traction rolling) when the track gets it's 'blue groove' I'll prolly buy Pro-Line 40-series with crime fighters when these wear out, to get more tire on the track, and widen the stance a bit, for more stability.

Hello guys, i'm new to the forum, I'm about to receive a Hellfire, i got some questions for you guys:

1.- Can you put Proline 40 series tires and wheels on it? if yes what kind of adaptator do i need?

2.- Can you put T-Maxx - Revo size tires on it? if yes what kind of adaptator do i need?

3.- What are the most common parts to break?

4.- Are the stock Aggressor tires of the RTR version good for racing? or recommend going for bowties?

5.- Pullstart or Roto Start?

6.- Are the size of the T-Maxx - Revo tires the same as the Hellfire tires? For example, can i put tmax tires on the stock hellfire wheels?

I think thats it for now, thanks in advance.

I'm getting a Hellfire SS soon. I had some questions on engines. I was planning on getting the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMUM4&P=]O.S .21 VG(P)-X[/link] but i wasn't sure if it would be powerful enough. I then decided that the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMCA4&P=7]Ofna .28 Picco w/Pullstart[/link] would provide ample power. But i remembered hearing that that engine and Piccos in general were hard to start and hard to tune. By the way I am on a budget.

Is this true?

Just a few answers to your questions:

Nitropowered92; Unless you're running on a large track, stick with the .21 sized engines. .28's are generally overkill for arena trucks. I own a Picco built Orion .28, and it is honestly too much motor for the truck. Plus, the engine has been a little picky to tune. Look at the budget engines from OS, Novarossi, and RB Concepts, and stay with the .21's.

DONUT33321; On my track, I'm running the diffs at 7/15/5, and the shocks with 32.5 wt Losi oil front and rear. The pistons are the stock SS kit delrin pieces, white up front and black in the rear. The springs are pink in front and yellow out back. PM me if you need more detail.

zjatoRad; The simple answer to your wheel questions is that you can adapt anything to anything. You just have to find the right hex hubs. The Proline wheels use 23mm hexes, so check with Dace and Kellum Machine Works for those. I wouldn't recommend using the Revo wheels since they using 14mm hexes, which are smaller that the stock 17mm hexes common to truggies. Unless you are running on pavement, I would switch out the Aggressors for something like a Proline Bow Tie or Crime Fighter.

If you are buying the Hellfire SS, just stock up on extra screws, bumper braces, and lower arms. Also, get a spare filter, since it's always nice to have a backup.
If you are buying the RTR, grab the afore mentioned parts and be prepared to replace the stock shock towers and hinge pin braces for something sturdier.

I would suggest getting a starter box and ditching the pull/roto start options. If that isn't an option, go with the roto.

I have been running my rtr that I've completely converted to the ss with proline bowties and a couple of sets of nubs and it has done well. the HO motor is fast enough, but I'd like to ditch the pull start. What is the best replacement backplate that allows one to use a starter box? I found one online, but I'm not sure if there are others... by the way, I have a lot of replacement parts, I could almost build a whole truggy... If anyone needs anything let me know... i can't resist pointing out the hellfiRE thread has reached 666 posts.

I'll be 667.

Here's the pictures of the broken Hellfire SS after club night and a nearly uneventful large triple on the back straight.
damage was an a-arm, this broken and bent upper deck and a broken aluminum mount plate for the engine.

time to save up for the quasi-carbon fiber pieces from speed tech.

Picking up the the HPI chassis brace/ lower engine mount might solve this. I'm running one and have had any problems yet.

GO HELLFIRE SS !!

tonight was a big night at one of our local tracks... everyone out with their new toys.. teaching new turn marshals how to turn over a car, and when NOT to jump into oncoming traffic :-)

with a truggy class of ten, and one SS in the building...

THE SS took FIRST place (i didn't tq though, started the main in 3d) ended up with a few race bucks to help the budget..

my favorite quote of the night after the main : "hey, yeah man, what is that? is that a hellfire? damn you worked them over"

Good job man. Remember, if you can't catch them, outlast them.

Turn marshalling is an art. Can't tell you how many times I've been whacked because I wasn't paying attention.

kappa77 thanks for info i went into the main in 8th place out of 20 trucks.i made it up to 6th place then the rental transponder fell off and with 3 min to go .so i ended up 10th .but for my first time running the truck i was very pleased.my k4.6ho was running 240 is that to warm.truck was still loose so i raised
rear camber link up and out one to highest point on shock tower in rear seemed to help conering

Sweet. Sounds like you had a good night.

240 is right on target for the K4.6, as long as the power is good and there's a decent smoke trail from the engine. The more you run, the less you'll have to rely on temp and more on how it feels.

I'm experimenting with a diff setup someone gave me on truggyracers (I'm a mod there). Instead of 7/15/5 or 3, they're running 5/7/2. I'm going to try this or something a little heavier this week and see if it tightens things up.

Right now, I have to go with the SS machined towers from HPI, or the BCE towers. I'm running the SS towers without any problems.

hehehe...
thanks for sharing your race experience dude !
Racing mine between 1/8 buggies is no issue !
They are even quick on throttle response but after that..jumping and all round handling is lovely
I run a Nosram RS28 with 16t CB...a Cen Matrix with OS21 vzb can't beat me on the track...
I'm bad
no offense to anybody, I just find the HF a god d.... good race machine !!!![>:][>:][>:]

New Hellfire racer in the house, grabbed a decked out SS on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=003

Can't wait to run in the truggy class, took first in the MT series this year but now I want to see what I can do in the truggy class. Going to run a STS D21T & Skektrum w/94359 servos (maybe a HT 5625 for TH/BR as it performed great in my LST2) I'll try my RB 928 in it at the club races but I think it will be way too much power.

So anyone have any websites to get some upgrades of parts on the Hellfire other than the HPI website? I crashed mine and broke the shock cap (plus a bunch of other things.) and I can't seem to find any locally.

Try ebay, RCboyz, Speedtechnitro and amainhobbies just to name a few.
