RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
If anybody is still looking for the kit like I was, I found one store in the U.S. that still carries them. They are selling the SS kit with no engine for $461.40 (it is actually the current exchange rate for what Modelsport U.K. is selling the same kit for 239 pounds = 461.40 dollars). Insanely marked up I know, but I really wanted the kit, so I bought it. And it has been shipped today, so I'm thinking it is legit. Here's the web site:

What do you guys use to clean off your R/C trucks? Mine got ran through a ton of dusty dirt and it's pretty dirty. I used compressed air to get rid of most of it but there still a lot left. Carb cleaner? Brake cleaner?

I got some from eBay, but I found that there is not enough clearance in the front hub carriers, which means the rubber boots catch, twist and tear. I also found that putting boots on the centre drive shafts didn't hold up for long either, any small stones, twigs etc can get in that area and when they rub against the spinning rubber boot, you also get twisting, tearing or just the simple removal of the boot!
I have had mine fitted for about a few weeks now, with hardly any runs on my Hellfire (its been in bits a few times now) and the boots on the front are completely ruined and I have taken them off, the centre drive shaft boots were damaged too and constantly slipping off the CVD, the only ones that are not too ripped up and don't slip off are the rear two.
I'm not sure if thats a problem with the ones I bought, but I'm pretty sure it would happen with any boot, as there just isn't enough clearance, and the chance of any foreign object getting in and tearing them up is too high.
I will be leaving just the rears on and greasing up the front and centres from now on, thats how I got it second hand and I'm sure they will hold up without the boots just fine

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Let me catch my breath.....
I have just bought a Hellfire SS with LOADs of spares, an OS 30 VG ES, with rotostart, DX2, Spektrum receiver and servos...
The engine has only had half a gallon through, the tyres are like new...
for just £150 on ebay.
I'm going to strip out the parts I want, the DX2, the OS .30 and sell it on, I can easily get £150 for it as a roller with all the spares! failing that, I'll sell it all seperatly.
I'm sure the guy was using another account to bid me up, cos it was at £102 till the last minute, and I couldn't outbid the other bidder. As soon as it got to 150 I stopped, and as soon as the auction stopped, I got a second chance offer. Even if I have been bid up, I don't care!
So.... how good is the OS .30?

WL,
I havent ever had an os 30 but from wat ive read its nothing special. Maybe keep it as a backup engine? Or sell both your mills etc and get a os 28 or picco etc. Then you will see wat fast is!
Did you ever do the modd to your 4.6? Was there much of a difference?

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Ignore that, I just realised it was 2 boxes, not 4!
So, does anyone know how the O.S. .30VG would compare to a HPI 4.6Ho?

You can do well with them..As with anything you have to set them up correctly..and not crash them 100 times a lap..lol..If anyone's interested I'm selling mine for $400..included is $500 worth of NIB parts, Truggy has Alum. hubs front and rear, new chassis, graphite top deck, brakes, Mugen captured hinge pins on the Hubs (F&R) Integy 5.5mm shock towers, GH chassis braces, New Vantage Carbon pipe, 3 bodies, stock kit tires and one set of RTR tires..pretty much dialed and fast..
