RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
Thanks for the replies. I'm not nessacarily looking for wheelies but if it does wheelie I'm OK with that! I am done with monster trucks as they handle like wheel barrows compared to my truggies! I just traded off my last MT (LST) a couple weeks ago and I don't plan on getting another MT anytime soon I traded an MGT 8.0 for this ST-1. I think I will get some 20K oil for the center diff and use that as a starting point and go up or down from there to see how I like the handling. I know I am going to have to experiment with the setup a bit before I get it to where I like it. But thats all part of the game!

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
My setups were pretty much:
7K Front
10K Center
3K Rear (I went down to I think like 2,000 or 1,000 and the back end kept drifting out so much it was hideous [&:] did make for fun drifts on gravel!)
I say go from there, trust me, its night and day when you do the center diff first, a little messing around can help, do make sure to write down your setup and the pros and cons of it

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
Can somebody help me with the stock factory needle setting for the Thunder Tiger Pro .28 that the ST-1 comes with stock? I have the engine out of the ST-1 and in a buggy but I can't seem to start it real easy and it doesn't want to keep running. the engine is still nearly new and the glow plug is good. I am just wanting to set everything back to the stock settings and work on tuning it from there.
Thanks
Edit: I think I just found them. Are these the correct settings? HSN=3 turns out from closed. LSN= 6 1/2 out from closed.

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
I have seen 2.5 on the HSN and 5.5 on the LSN works best for me as a starting position. But I use 10-15% nitro and OS A3 plug and the temp in India is between 30-35C

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
I finally bit the bullet and installed my Castle 2650kv kit with MMM V3 controller on 5S 4500mah/30C LiPo and gave it its first run downstairs in the underground carpark. Now i always knew it was going to be fast from watching videos on the net and calculating the numbers but nothing iv seen or done could have prepared me for what happened. HOLY &$%# ITS FAST!!! its a friggin animal(excuse my french im running 10K-15K-3K still from nitro setup and i can only just keep the wheels on the ground, it has soooo much power..... Im starting to think that i maybe should have opted for 4S instead of 5S. Even at around 60kph i give it full throttle and it just unleashes a whole new powerband and spins the wheels into an awesome high speed powerslide it looks soo awesome. It turns my Proline LPR's into dinner plates lol and the wheelies are insane, it makes an HPI Wheely King look like an amature. I'll get some pictures and hopefully some video and post it up soon

Hey mate, i really wish i had gotten your conversion kit instead of the RC Monster one! All i got was a motor mount and the rest was improvised.......i feel a little let down now after seeing the rcproductdesigns kit [&o] iv got a 13T pinion gear and the stock 50T centre spur gear. Im just giving the battery its first charge now. When i drove it before it was only running on the half charge from factory

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
I'm thinking about getting a ST-1 Pro, but I'm wondering about parts availability in the US on line. Local hobby shop 45 minutes 1 way, so thats not an option. Do you guys know of at least 3 reliable on line sites in the US that have a good supply of ST-1 parts? I'm looking at the ST-1 because its the only truggy that has an optional 2 speed. (I'm only bashing and drag racing) Thanks.

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
Hmm lets see, there is Ace Hobby, they should have parts
Amain Hobbies, I am not sure if they ship to where you are or not
Side note, SOME RC8T parts fit the ST-1, like diff cups, (hmm cheaper )
Well I am really debating what to do with mine... It is looking a bit worse for wear than I had expected and last time I picked it up, I could really tell the parts in it were getting loose, so i am beginning to debate what to do with it Sucks it probably isn't worth a ton of $$$ to sell but well see, its sad to potentially part company with such a nice car but well see... nowhere to race it either [&:][&o]

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
Body haven't tried.... that is the only thing I "know" works
Tracks... yeah, look up Thousand Oaks to like Beaumont... LONG drive The local track "claims" to hold nitro racing but just crusin the car around, it gets small, way fast [:'(] And the racers there are a bunch of cry babies [&:]
Anyone got an idea "how much" the car would be potentially worth.
It is a "roller" with no tires, no electronics, radio... blah blah blah the car is a "tad sloppy" but I think for a parts rig, it has more than enough goodies to pick clean off of [8D] I was thinking its worth "no more" than $100 on the high side [>:]

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
Upgrades... nothing really, all the upgrades I did were electronics [>:] except for the Saxton Steering Mod ()
Arms are in good condition, show a little "road rash" but haven't broken one.
Last time I checked the diffs they were in good condition after the car decided to take its own course around the track, didn't really run it much after that due to engine troubles [X(]
Chassis... is in pretty good shape, "some" scratching on the underside, I did do a "little dremel work" where the fuel tank sits to lower the side with the pickup since I was having issues with the engine dying when the tank got somewhat low ([:@])
Other than that... it is in "relatively good" shape overall, minus a little grime I need to remove

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
It used to be listed right on the site. I cant find it either. I wonder if they stopped making it? They should have one that fits though.
ORIGINAL: gutshot
Thanks Keith, they don't list one for the .28 but I'll call them in the AM to see if they can recommend one.

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
They guided me to the S680 which fits a large number of engines. None in stock locally so I ordered one from hopmeup along with the shaft and a new O.S. # 8 plug.
