Default Robitronic Mantis official topic

Post here what do you think about robitronic mantis or if you have one i would like to see some pics xD!

I would like to know why no one is talking about robitronic cars and why few guys buy them (correct me if i am wrong). I have a robitronic mantis and its pretty good car and i have no problems with it! The axial 1st spec engine its very good and fast! so... why?

For what it's worth, a friend of mine has a Mantis and he seems to like it pretty well. Here are some pics i took at out last get together before it got cold...

We've been out a couple of times and really beat the heck out of them and so far the only breakage i've seen on his Mantis was the cast engine mount...He cracked it on one of those big jumps....

keep an eye on the mid range needle on the carb. they are known to come loose and fall out. the mantis has a problem eating steering servo's. we had 2 at our track and we went trough about 6 servo's in about 2 months. other than those two things it's not a bad truggy.

I had mine but sold it. It was a great truck just could not find alot of stuff for it. Only weak points I found were the cast engine mount which I replaced to the one piece billlet mount and the rear diff kept leaking and the front shock shafts are weak. Other than that I beat the hell out of it. If you change your tires and wheels to prolines and crimefighters you will notice a big difference.

With the prolines you go SO MUCH MORE steering response compared to the sponge tires, LOL, that come stock on that thing.

I just recently got my Mantis from a dude named Fastbubba racing. Took truck apart and so far all I've found was one bent rear hub hingepin. I'm eliminating the e-clips hopefully and I'm looking for a billet mount. Then project "Preying Mantis" goes to the track to munch on some Losi's and such.[>:]

Hey, i bought one used on Ebay with that motormount.. don't suppose you sold it to me.. Got it for $180 + shipping and a boat load of extras..

I love the Mantis, it's VERY fun to beat on.. Not sure how it is on a competitive level, because I've never raced, which makes me a second rate citizen..

What color shocks on are on it? Also did it have a white wing on it with green axial .28RR stickers on the side? Also the rear of the wing had 187 on the back.

Well, so far on mine these are the mods:[>:] Pro Line high downforce rear wing, water and dust proofed receiver box, custom made brake linkage, looks like all the other truggy linkages now, Pro Line Bow Ties, OFNA Jammin' 28mm white wheels (4 for 20!), Losi LST2 front TI turnbuckles from Lunsford to extend to meet the CF steering link because if you use the CF link with the 20 degree knuckles, the turnbuckles fall out of the cups, aluminum front and rear shock towers, OFNA truggy shocks (clip on), Hobbico servos (don't laugh, I got a 333 oz. @6v servo for the steering for $89. I called up Hi-Tec and they did indeed confirm that they make this servo for Tower and it's IDENTICAL internally to theirs which they sell for $114, even the Hi-Tec gears fit!). All 3 diffs have had their gears and shafts replaced with Kyosho truggy parts. Carbon fiber deck, Lunsford 5mm rear camber links and a Spektrum system for my M8. Motor is a worked Picco P3 evo. When it's done I'll post pics.

I just spoke w/ robitronic and they said the TXS is coming end of August. It will be a cheaper model of the brother, Mantis. You can also submit your favorite pictures to their myspace: www.myspace.com/robitronic_usa . It looks like they just started.

Because it's the Robitronic Mantis thread not the Jammin or Hyper, lol. Seriously, those are 2 good trucks but don't sleep on the Mantis. Jammins' are like opinions, EEEVVVerybody has one lol, but still a well designed truck.

The mantis is a great truggy. I had one and loved it. It was a very solid truggy. Only problems I had were the steering servo which sucks on any RTR but also the tires are not good for racing. A set of LPR's wake that bad boy up big time!! Handled great and the Axial motor is one of the best RTR motors you can get. I just had a hard time if I needed a part. Tower hobbies was always out of stock of everything.
