wow, it's been a long time since I have posted anything on this site.. but Im back, bitten by the r/c bug again. [&:] Just got stationed in Tucson arizona, was driving around and happened to see a hobbytown usa.
Somehow I ended up bringing home a Team Losi 8ight T
go big or go home right? haha
So anything people upgrade alot on this truck? Seems pretty solid and high quality from the factory to me.
Can't wait to put it on the local racetrack every weekend

welcome back! i assume you got an rtr? either way I would just make sure epas are set correctly, check everything to make sure its tight and run'er the way you have it. very nice choice. if you run into issues is when id upgrade unless its just burning to be spent...

yup RTR
Yeah, Im not really in a rush to upgrade, I was just wondering if there was any particular weak points I should fix. I guess I will find them on the track if there are any
Tomorrow Im going to break er in, maybe take some slow laps around the track after i get several tanks through just idling and doing ovals
It took me awhile to decide what r/c I wanted, they had that new savage XL just sitting there begging me to beat the crap out of it lol, but it wouldnt fare very well at race day
I talked to the manager at the LHS about the 8ight T for awhile and decided it was the one. I got a discount, still paid a little more than I would have online.. but he races the same truck so I figured I would support the LHS. Plus he said he will help me out with anything if I need it, maybe I can get some setup tips too [8D]

My first 1/8 scale was the 8t rtr. in my eyes there are none better. you might want to move your steering servo back on throttle and get a real nice steering servo on there. other than that you should be set to get competitive!

o yeah..your also gonna want an aluminum steering servo horn. that 270 on the throttle wont last long so be ready to move your 650 back on throttle toss that 270 and grab a descent servo for steering. once you get past those 2 things you should be able to burn a good 2 gallons before needing any maintnance. let us all know how it goes!

so its raining today... thats ok though part of the local track is covered
got her pretty much broken in, havent done much about tuning it in better, but dang this thing is going to be a beast on the track! half way through break in I was giving it 1/4 to 1/2 throttle and it was really eating up the straightaway i was running it down,
So far I like it, the handling was awesome straight out of the box, and it flys level and the stock tires actually worked ok. [8D]

most people prefer anything but stock xtt tires. myself I prefer the xtt stock tires and have bought everybodies(xtt's) for good prices that did not want them. they are just fine after you get used to them. you can get used to about any type of tire for any condition. its all about running your own(or in my case my own lol)race. after you run a couple gallons or less i would look into getting some breakleen and cleaning your diffs out and putting some oil in them. you will be good for a while but once you get so far you will want to tweek some things to upgrade the handling(such as putting oil in the diffs)if you run into a good deal on diff oil grab front to back,7000,10000&5000. thats the stock set-up in the race roller 8t. really though the stock grease will be good for a couple gallons or so till you get a good understaning of the 8t. its an awsome truggy and lots of fun to race.

o yeah wanted to say, that stock 427 is awsome. myself I ran one halfway through the summer (about 3 gallons & had many more to go)and there are lots of guys around the forum that run others that are the same(only under fifferent names, its same as v2.26&others)that like them very much as well. i know guys right around the 10gallon mark and still strong,as long as they are matained and treated good. i sometimes miss my 427,lots of raw power!

Yeah, I noticed this engine has good mid and low range it seems.
My opinion about the tires might change when I get something better, but I like them for now. They grip good enough but with throttle control I can break traction and slide around the tight corners
It's a good thing I read some of the threads about the 8ight T before I took it out to break it in, got my EPA's adjusted good and adjusted out the drag brake it had.
I already got a "mod," well sort of.. I got a set of the rear plastic gaurds to keep dirt off my suspension and drivetrain.

Took it out for a test and tune session at the track today! Got to try to get ready for race day
Got it tuned pretty good, holy cow this engine is nice for a RTR... It's easy to tune (or so I thought) and it has alot of grunt. There is this one triple set after a tight corner on my track, and my 8ight T flys over the whole thing
With more traction and some suspension tuning I might have to be careful to not overshoot it lol
O and today the track was alot drier than it was when I went last and traction was very unpredictable
I would be sliding into a corner and then traction roll at times haha
hopefully they water the track some race day... and I might need better tires
Had my first break today too, the shock broke out of the little plastic peice holding it to the suspension arm. But, I got it fixed for free
I bought the truck at that LHS and the manager races the same kind, he helped me chose which truggy to get actually. He threw it up on his stand, had it fixed with a new part and hardware in a few seconds and I was back on the track [8D]
Did I mention I love this thing?? haha ripping through corners then sailing over the jumps had me giggling like a kid lol

the 427 is farely descent at holding a tune. seems like i'l fall back on mine more than id like to considering all the engines i drag around. the things just reliable. iv been running on clay more than loose dirt and i run several sets of holeshots. with loose dirt i carry around a couple sets of crimefighters and got a couple bowties.I have some panthers(have no idea what they are, they were given to me.they just say panther on them, they are very soft crimefighter looking tread) most guys i race with prefer switch on clay and bowties on loose dirt. id just talk to the lhs guy and maybe he can hook you up with one or the other to try before dropping $50 on a set. fresh xxt's do me fine. as long as they are clean and glued with 85% tread(not bashed on concrete)they are good to go. Just be sure when and if you do buy tyres for your 8t they are offset and trug not monster truck tires.
seems like every 8t rtr has a different item that breaks. Iv been to the track to practice on more than 1 occassion and somebodies there flying quads and landing 2 lanes over lol awe that was you! lol just kidn. iv stood there and had fellas breakin everything from multiple shock oring retainers(on race rollers and rtrs, rtr has plastic race roller has metal and the metal ones fail more than the plastic, usually from overtightening on assembly)to multiple shock ends to servo horns and springs lost and all kinds of crap and here i am handing out used hardware and parts and end up needing those parts myself later. thats a new one though the sway bar holder breaking. huh. I go through after every practice/race day and try to replace and rebuild as much as possible. part of the sports wrenching
glad to hear your liking it! I cant get enouph myself!!
