Ive been reading this thred for a little while, decided to get the Hell fire, sweeeet truggy. got it form local shope. I also took some advise from the thred and got good servos and a good raido, new Sensor. the combo seams good so far, 1 gal of fuel and no busted parts yet. HPI has been good to me sofar, they impresed me with there rs4 5 years agao, and now that im back in, I got me this truggy and my kid a savageX. good stuff. going to the track soon:D

Keep us posed and be patient with it. This truggy has secrets. It doesnt like to tell you what it likes,but when you find out....man is it a dream!

Waiting on my Hellfire to be delivered and after reading alot of this thread, can anyone point out some good servos and radio for this beast. Links or names and part numbers for stuff would rock.

I went to Horizonhobby.com, searched on Hellfire but no Golden Horizons stuff came back...

In fact only 7 results total.

Anyone seen the new pro HF in the magazine? Any idea when it will be released? I already have a HF and cant wait to get my hands on a pro version! I used a jr 650m for steering and a 590m for throttle however for racing I am going to switch to the jr dz9000s for steering and the dz9000t for steering.

I was looking trying to figure out what I needed to update the steering servo on the Hellfire. Im really not sure what exactly I am looking for since I have only ever used the stock stuff since I just got into these things a couple months ago.

Your inputs would be greatly appreciated on the radio and servos this comes with as replacements for the stock Hellfire ones.

just move the stock SF2 steering servo over to the throttle and brake and save the SF1 for a rainy day
buy yourself the JR z9000t servo ... about 115 $ but it is bulletproof fast and holy strong
i just broke the servo saver arm ... like 1/4 thick plastic!!!! when i clipped a pipe on the back straight that caught just the front right tire at 3/4 throttle !!!
i have my saver cranked tight as it will go for quick steering and i have a racers edge aluminum servo horn and this thing broke the plastic before the titanium gears in the servo !!!!!!
i recommend it up and down you will love it !

does anyone know how the aluminum lower a arms hold up ...and also i would like to get a new steer and gas\brake servo but iam not sure what will work best for the hellfire ,,,any suggestions $$amount does not really matter as long as they are strong and reliable

Very subjective....


I think the stock engine works great! And I've got a bunch of engines to choose from. I've got a Picco P7 I'm going to put in it once the stocker is dead, but right now, it works just fine....

Depending on you skill level, Novarossi or RB .21's like the 21-5 or C5 or 6BB. If your not that skilled the P5 will be more than you'll need.

Novarossi and RB again, the 528 and 928.

Having said all that, the stock engine is really good and just past 3/4 a gallon it wakes up. The Axial .28 is on par with the stock engine as well along with a raft of others that are perfectly capable of doing good service in the truck. As said it's subjective in part and depends on how much money you care to spend but think about that because very few will ever be able to get the most out of engines like the 528 and 928 which begs the question, should you spend the money just to have bragging rights or do you want something that will keep you in contention will you concentrate on your driving skilz?

if you want some new servo's and money is no object than get a couple of the hitec 330 oz servo's not sure of what the number is but i had two of them they work great.
oh yes they go for about 110.00 each.
they will definetly do the job

i talked to the people at hpi today and i am on the list for some new a arms probably be here in a couple of weeks.
they up graded the front a arms but did not change the back a arms they are the same old ones that came with the front a arms.
the rear a arms can be drilled and modified to fit the front and they will work.
i drilled two and they are on my hellfire now haven't tried then on any serious jumps yet but they work fine going around a flat parking lot while brakeing ion a nova rossie rex 528.
insane power.

I have 2 hellfires and want one for racing and one that will make any high dollar truggy piss its pants
at the vary sight of it
so any suggestion would be appreciated
the hellfire is new to me id like a little input from the experienced truggy guys

Go and view my post on the new upgraded A arms.. The rears are Different. They are thicker with some extrac bracing as well.

i am a bit new and i am not sure what needs to be shimmed??? i have had my hellfire for about 10 days now and i have had to replace a bunch of stuff on it like servo gear upgrade,rear a-arm, rear drive shaft, clutches, u-joint pins at every joint, and a few more things . anyway i have decided to tear down the truck completely and service all parts and locktight all the set screws that need it but i still am not sure what to shim??? i think it has something to do with the diffs ...

any info would be greatly appericiated

the shimming they are reffering to is talked about at www.truggyracers.com in the setup and tips section. as for the set screw/pin issue, get some 1/2 inch shrink wrap and stretch it over the pin and shrink it it will keep the pin from coming out (all 4 wheels and at ft/rr diff)i lost one of mine also till i did this.

i could be wrong and most of the time i am but i believe that the 330oz servo's by high tech are the biggest servo there is for the truggies.
i have two of them.
one in a jammin and one in a hellfire.
i took the stearing servo that came with the hellfire and replaced it with the hitech servo.
i left the throttle /brake servo that came with the hellfire in the truck and it has worked fine.
someone on this post said he wanted to make a truck that would make all others pee in there pants.
well it boils down to this.
you can spend all the money you want and buy all the bad a-- stuff you want but it ain't gonna be worth diddly squat if you can drive or handle it.
someone asked about a radio for his truck
now you can ask six different people the same question and you will get six different answers.
the radio that i own is the futaba 3pk with spectrum.
is this the best?
unknown.define the word best.
what would be considered best for you may not be best for me.
the 3pk has all the whistles and bells you will ever need.
it takes a philidelphia lawyer to figure out how to program it
once you get it programed it is a real joy to run.
now about engines.
i have the nova rossie rex 528 in my hellfire and some people say it is to much engine period.
some say that they run to hot.
last sunday i was running my hellfire and broke the a arm so i went to the hobbyshop and a short time later one of the guys i was running with came into the hobbyshop and told us that he had just fried his nova rossie rex 528 said it would start and run than when it got hot it would quit and not start again until it got cold .
will this happen to mine?
only time will tell.
one thing about it though he runs his a lot harder than i run mine so maby mine won't burn up like his did.
they don't call me sundial for nothing.
hopw long they last depends on how hard you push them.
