RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Anyone watch the review video for the Hellfire and LST2 ? I liked the review but I honestly think by the looks on the LST2 review Video they went a little easy on the LST2.
I think the Hellfire deserved a little better ranking if they gave the LST2 almsot 5 stars in all categories then for the beating the Hellfire put up should have got a better ranking. What do you guys think ? |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
These trucks are completely different MT vs Truggy, not a likely head to head this would go a long way to explaining the ratings,

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
those are some good points dirby... does any one use fataba servos ??? i have read some good stuff about there digital units :D

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
i talked to my lhd tonight about the futaba servo's and one of the guys i run with had a jammin built for him and he used two of the futaba servo's in it.
theese go for about 75.00 each and he says they are real smoothe. i think i will get one tomorrow to put in my new jammin. i will use the stearing servo i got with my spectrum as a throttle servo in my jammin. thx Dirby. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
You must remember that these hellfires are a different breed. They require certain attention and this area is one of them. Im not telling you to run out and spend 115 on a servo but I would hate for you to spend 50 then 75 and the 115 just to find out this should have been your first choice and saved alot of money. The hitec 5955tg and the JR Z9000T are great for this truggy.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Got my Hellfire on Friday, first thing I did was swap the steering servo, tightened screws using removable loctite, changed the shock oil to 30. 4 tanks for break in, 5th for fine tuning. With all the input from the RCU review and these forums it made my over all experience alot better being prepared for the little fixes here and there. I was able to get in a tank of run time on the street before the rain hit. I can honestly say the Hellfire is SWEET !
Cant wait til Sunday and run it through my backyard track ! http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...k/DSCN0174.jpg HPI Hellfire HPI SavageX HPI Rush Evo |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
WAH i broke it.
the purple aluminum cross piece behind the front diff keeps bending back and the rod that holds the a arm main pin comes loose than i have to pull the whole shebang apatr and hammer it flat and put it back together again. this time i lost one of the little rubber pieces that hold the main rod in. can theese rubber pieces be bought seperatly or do you have to buy the aluminum pieces as a set? thx Dirby. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
I had the same problem with my Hellfire. I now run two braces together. I also use a bolt and nut to keep everything together and have not had it bend anymore.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
that is happening to everyone. my friend is making some out of 7075 alum. that will be 9mm thick and keyed to the chassis no more bending here, i will let everyone know when they are done and if they will be for sale. until then bolting 2 together will work fine.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
HPI has not publicly admitted but knows that a bad batch of this braces are no good. You can buy the accentric bushing seperate,Like 8 bucks for the kit and includes some other things you may need in the future. Double up the brace for now. We will be seeing the fix for this problem VERY soon.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
i am thinking about making some braces out of steele and useing long bolts for the pins with nuts and washers.
i don't know what is wrong with hpi. first it was the a arms brakeing and there has been no replacement for months now the aluminum braces bending and no replacements for them ether. what gives? Dirby. |

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
I understand. Trust me. I have not had any issues with mine bending,Im sure the possibility is there but has not happened yet. I know of some things that are fixing to be avialable. I highly suggest you double the brace rather than use steel. Corrosion factors and weight issues would be my first reasons not to use it. So for now I would double it. Until the right thingbecomes available. The 2 together will be enough to support it even with out keying it to the chassis.
HPI does not have the 7075 blocks in their future. They have already designed and sunk money into the more adjustable 6061 blocks that will be available in the SS kit. Dirby.the plastic pieces that hold the pin in place are not available and according to horizon they won't be available until mid july. anybody want to buy a hellfire real cheep? |

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
make sure you put the same bushings back in that you take out and put them in the right way or it will mess up the trucks handleing

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Does anyone have trouble with their Hellfire turning sharper to the right than to the left?
I've checked all of my radio endpoint and trim settings as well as the linkages on the truck but the angle of the wheels when turning right is sharper than going left. You can really tell the difference on the track too. :-( Is there something obvious that I'm missing? |

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
I had to modify the servo mount so I can get the same amount of steering. ORIGINAL: buffmeadows Does anyone have trouble with their Hellfire turning sharper to the right than to the left? Dnell
if what you say about the metal bending and than loosing it's stringth after it is hammered stright mine should be like a wet noodle. it has ben been bent five times and hammered stright five times. there is some real poor engineering behind this setup on the hell fireHPI should have thought this over and used a better setup than a floating brace and plastic pieces to hold the pins inplace.the braces front and back should have been bolted to the main chassey and there should be two long pins with nuts and washers to hold the a arms on with. i too have noticed the steering problem. turns sharper one way than the other. HPI why is this? Dirby. |
