Hey PBW, i guess if u just bash get the xtm backplate. less equipment to carry ard. im still trying to figure out what to do with the center diff mounts. tested the braking just now i guess the stock brake pads just dont cut it. i'll try the jammin fiber disc and see if its better.
btw, guys, whats the standard length of the pressure tube(exhaust) for the hyper st? |

Pictures pending, i'll send them to your mail....but for what i'm looking at the pictures, you are braking more the rear tires than the front tires....you should pull the arm that pushes the front pads more to the back, i don't know if yoy understnd me...but in another way...from the servo goes a stick that pulls the stock that push the fron pads, that stick you should put it a bit backwars, or pull it more to the engine side, then the rear one you could push it a bit backwars, so it could brake a bit better. Real cars brake in average 70% front 30% rear (for a reason of weight transfer), 5% more or less, (now with the abs brakes these could be a bit modified but is always in that range)
Maybe that way you could improve the breaking of the truggy.... |

ORIGINAL: low_blow_joe hey guys.. heres what i've done to my hyper st RTR.. ok dont chase me away to the RTR thread please. :) guess the pro-thread got more hits. hahaha. btw ive planted a jammin .28 together with a tsais M32 hard anod truggy pipe. managed to run it yesterday, man the combination rocks! the truggy handles good, and turning is as good, if not better than a crt. I use to own a CRT i sold it cos waiting for the X2 to be launched.. and meanwhile got this hyper st to relieve my truggy craving. Ive done the hyper8 battery mod, used 8.5 engine mounts and also upgraded to cnc knuckles. I switched to a hyper 7 front brake cam, didnt like the stocker and use a cnc hyper 7 center top diff plate. still got problems with my braking. the plastic flex real bad. i can even flex it with my fingers.. i intend to race this truggy and my driving style is i do alot of hard late braking.. i guess i need a solution to this.. anybody can help me out. thanks in advance |

I've spent most of this morning installing the engine(LRP from my Muggy..) and trying to get the linkages all set up..
I HATE LINKAGES. Anyway, I need to go find an alu Hitec servo arm for steering, AND I guess also the servo arm for gas/brakes as the stock one doesn't work on my 5945 either.. I've been experimenting with different plastic arms that came with previous servos, but none seem to work or have the right holes or whatever... Question is, should I also get alu for that too? Thanks.. |

OK, well, it's all together now.. Only think I have yet to do is sort out the linkage... Got it set up so it works, but there's too much brake drag at idle... I'll have to figure that out somehow.. Also, just have plastic servo arms on for the time being.. Need to threadlock a screw or two, then it's ready to go...
Now that the engine and everything is in, it is sagging a good bit more, so I guess 60 wt was about right - just need to put in some spacers if I'm going for some air.. Here're a few pics... (I'm waiting for an XTM backplate to come from the States so I can put the Mach in.. hey PBW, check your EPA for the throttle.. make sure its not forcing open the carb when u pull the throttle. mine set abt 70 %. nice paint job btw.. nicer if u can adjust the white balance of ur cam.. :)

Hey, I just experimented with the EPA - set it to 80, then 70, then 120... None of the above made any difference... Brakes are still dragging at idle..
I would say I must just have to loosen the scews holding in the brake discs, but I did that on my Muggy too, and still don't have any brakes... ps As far as the camera, it's my cell phone, which is still newish so I don't have it all figured out yet.. The day really did look like that though..(typical northern Europe grey..) |

Been fiddling with the linkages again, and think I have it narrowed down to the rear brakes.. Seems no matter what I adjust, whether on the truck or the radio, the rear brakes still drag.. Been looking around looking for close up pics of the center diff with linkages, and saw one pic where the guy had bent the little looped pin that the linkage goes into on top of the center diff... Might try this next...
There is no drag when I hold the gas.. When I brake the braking is too hard and abrupt.. Front braking isn't yet perfect either, but there's no drag with moderate but not strong braking.. If somebody could post a close up pic of their linkage looking right down over the center diff and throttle servo, that would be cool... Thanks.. |

Sorry, can't help ya.. I filled mine basically nearly to the top, so that they would still fit together without having oil goup out all over the place..
I didn't threadlock the screws though.. Is that bad?? And I have a new question too.. After MUCH fiddling, I think I got the gas/brake linkage sorted.. But now to steering - I just bought an alu servo arm for steering, but it's several mm shorter than the arm supplied in the box... What does this mean, and if anything, what should I do about it?? Thanks.. |

HELP!!
Just building my first diff and Ive hit a problem already! There is a shaft which drops through the diff case and then through the drive shaft, but it doesnt look secure - like it may slide out and interefere with the diff case, Is this right?!?! Does it need securing in the middle somehow? Sorry for the crappy photo |

Ok, next problem
At the crown gear end of the diff the manual says to put a 13x16mm washer between the drive shaft cup and the bearing - But the washer is big enough to slide over the top of the cup, is the manual wrong? |

I just leafed through the instructions and saw the little ammendment page they sent along with the truck and I didnt see any instructions to where to set the carb for the first time, it didnt say that its factory set or not that I saw at least. any help would be nice. thanks in advance.
