No one know how the brakes will work [&o]
I think any after market non steel discs will run fine, after some extensive testing I'd suggest the following:

Either buy new pads or dremmel down your old ones and make sure they're clean!

Make sure you have the diff mount posts the right way round (the hole in which the cam operates is not central, sound obvious but I did it! :/)

I found that my brakes were fading after a tank or two, I found out the screws that hold the brakes were loosening. To fix this I've carefully drilled out enough space in the diff mount to fit a nyloc nut snugly in, this way the bolts that hold the the pads can't move an inch and where you leave them is where they'll stay. That said I'd still like to see an alloy diff mount, sure it's not too far away! I've also replaced the stock linkages. The standard set up has the front and rear rods on the same side, turn one of these 180 and you'll find the front brake works better.

I use Avid Phenolic brakes and they are superb, if a little expensive. I tried craddocks and really wasn't convinced. Think you will need 4 craddocks to match 2 Avids. Highly recommended!

Thanks guys

Well its too late to get new pads now, so will just turn them around for the time being.

Also another very good way to get it sorted

ORIGINAL: sn00p

Many Thanks for all the replies. I managed to get Kyoscho plates and swapped them out, also replaced springs with tubing and then put a hitec 645MG hi torque servo (huge torque) Result brakes still naff..... Wasnt too happy as i had now spent around £50 trying to sort the braking issue. Spoke with the guy in the shop and he mentioned about setting the links up etc to my reply of being do you think im stupid (well it turns out YES i am stupid). I noticed no matter what servo your using it only moves a small amount in the brake direction due to the trigger configuration. So i noticed that the pads where very slack on the discs. Tightened them up so i had around 1.5mm gap and Hey presto i have EXCELLENT stopping power. So for anyone else having braking issues of which ive seen so many threads just tighten the brake pads/disc mounts up up on the vertical pillars (2 screws per set of pads) to close the gap, hence the servo has to travel less to get friction and it will REALLY bite. So ive now ripped the Hitec servo back out and used that for the steering. and Put the original fast servo back in for the throttle. Put the springs back in and removed the tubbing and im now more than impressed.

Shame i wasted the money on the servo but i guess its always good to have a decent spare. I could prolly get most of my money back on ebay if i really needed as the original MG servo for the steering is fine to be honest. I also reckon you could get good results with the original discs rather than buying the cradocks (£6 for a pair) if your on a tight budget or dont have time but the cradock discs REALLY do give it a nice bite.

Just undo the brake rods by removing the stoppers on the servo end and slide rods out. Pop the rod off the carb slide (ball joint) Remove air filter. Now undo the 4 screws holding the top plate over the diff. Remove top plate followed by the brake pad towers. This will give you access to the diff so you can just pull it up and remove the centre dog bones to gain acces to the cups where the discs sit.

Make sure you screw the pad screws so you have ONLY a small 1-2mm gap to let the discs run free. Also make sure you locate propely in the slot on the base chasis. you'll see the bottom of the discs kinda sit in a channel.

Sounds difficult but really is a 10 min job to swap the discs out.

Wrat I thought the same thing about the hyper shocks.
If you measure the outside of the hyper shock it is 16mm where as the kyosho shocks use a 16mm shock piston.
I have'nt done it yet but measure your shock piston and you will find it isnt 16mm unlike the kyoshos
One of the guys at the club has big bore shocks and looking at them they are physically fatter than mine, looks almost 18mm, anyway hope that helps
ahhhh..that will explain it...i measure the outside...thanx for the explination...

NIce what were you using before? DX2.0 or 3.0?

dx2, and the old recievers work with the new tranny, just not dsm2. one button operation is very nice, took me 2 minutes to set up my cars...:D

Would a Nova 528XR just be dumb in the Hyper?? I have a chance to get one for an incredible deal..... [:@]

@PatrickBW

DEFINATELY get it, my dad has it in the Losi, that engine rips...!!!

If you can afford it, definately.....!

100000000% recommended.!

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

They normally cost €370 here. I have a chance to get one for €207 shipped - from a shop - not some shady used deal of private sale. I guess they're going cheap to make way for the new line of engines....

ps To give you an idea of relative prices, a new LRP Spec 3 Truggy costs €195 shipped, same with a Picco 28 truggy version.. Evo2 same price as the Nova XR..

Yea I am using the DX2.0. Are you using the new DSM2 reciever with the Hyper ST? If so let us know if the difference in speed is really noticable in the new system compared to the old? I only have 2 Nitro's at the moment at upgrading to the DX3r Seems like a waste of money at this point unless the DSM2 is really that much more responsive then the DSM.

Dude if the engine is new, go for it.!

But sorry, dont have any experience with the LRP, tho might be shelling out for the Picco.

not more responsove or i just can't tell, i have it in the 8.5 and it ran great today. ease of operation and comfort are defineately noticeable though. the thing weighs like 2oz or something, very light.

No I haven't.. It's 8:00 in the morning here though, and I'm looking out the window at what looks like the first blue sky I've seen in months.. It's just been a question of waiting on good weather, and sweetening up to my girlfriend to drive me 90 minutes to the track(then sit around all day in the middle of a field somewhere in cold weather and wait for me...) She's still sleeping.., so wait, I think I'll go make her breakfast in bed...

Yeah, LRP's in there ready to rip..(I hope.. Deburred the clutch last time, and sprayed down the OWB bearing which had been slipping..)

Lol Walk :P

Id never be able to wait that long.!

I wanna go to the track SO badly, but I need new brakes [:@]

Who needs brakes?? Brakes are overrated.. ;)

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

Dont say that.

I ran without brakes yesterday, disaster.! I lost to a SAVAGE [:'(] Around the track

I set my EPAs to 125 to generate as much push as it could to slow it down. Still was too fast.

Ill ahve it up and running by the end of the day hopefully [8D]

Gonna throw the racers edge super high temp ones in there.

Action shots from the Texas Truggy Twister this weekend. There was over a hundred racers in for this big event. I am running the orange/yellow Mugen Crowd Pleazer body. It took a lot of work to make it fit the ST.

I'd recommend these http://www.jespares.com/radio-contro...m-hn-hb-2.html

You can use your standard pads and just grind off the stock pads with a dremel or buy part no 87049 which is 4 pads. I also cropped the bolts and secured them with a nyloc set into the diff mount and it works a treat.

The brakes are fine. Let me get home in around 2 hours, and ill post a fix. Do a search on Hyper Brakes using the google search thing on this forum.

A user called sn00p has posted a great free fix to it.

I tried it, and it worked.

try the losi fiber disks, a little work and they fit and work great. very little force needed too from servo.

I picked up the Racers Edge Super High Temp ones, Ive still yet to try it out. But seems like it'll do really good. Provides enough force, but dosent really lock up the tyres. Just set your EPAs higher, mine are set at 85% xD

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

mine are at 25%, i don't really want the wheels to lock, just a quick controled slowdown.
