RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
kx, Do that.
There might have been a user error while building it up. Even though mine is an RTR, I stripped it down and built it up. Change your diff oils and then give it a try. Honestely IMO ive seen my share of truggies at the track, and I feel that the Hyper is way way up on the best handling list of literally best handling trucks. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ye ok mate , ill do that ready for this weekends race.
ill think ill try 10k , 30 k , 5 k (f,m,r) because some one suggested that and said that they ran it and was happy with it . any one else have any ideas of better oils to use? any ideas for shock oils for a wet grass track with a few doubles but a fast and techniqual track at the same time. ? ?????????????????????? |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Uh dont ask me about oils, im totally useless when it comes to that.
Im running 10K Front, 7K Center, 3K Rear. I read somewhere that the heaviest always goes in the front, next heaviest in the center, and the lightest in the back. As for shock oil, im planning to change mine to 35 front and 40 back. I run on an EXTREMELY bumpy track, anyone know if thats a good setup. My oil choices are 20 . 25 . 30 . 35 . 40 . 45 and 80. Running Team Losi Silicone's. Any tips welcomed. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Center should have the thickest, not Front.
I am running 7/10/5. F/C/R. This was my base test to see what would be good for racing. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ORIGINAL: kx_maduk hi , i am almost 100% its not the angle of which my wheels can turn because i have set them up perfect . im using a futaba s3305 and s3050 on steering ( s3305 is in their know because of its torque ) and i have a hitec 665 i think and a futaba s3050 for throttle. prehaps i should tear her all down and rebuild using stronger oils all round for shocks and diffs ? i really dont know .... maybe its just a simple mistake im making ? i really dont know . Okay your using very very poor servos for your application...way too slow and not nearly enough torque, most definitely the reason why your Hyper is not steering well...........not trying to knock your gear, but your servos are not nearly good enough for Truggy steering, not even close Futaba 3805 Speed: 0.25 sec/60° @ 4.8V 0.20 sec/60° @ 6V Torque: 124 oz-in (8.9 kg-cm) at 6V 99 oz-in (7.1 kg-cm) at 4.8V Futaba 3050 Speed: .20 sec/60° @ 4.8V, .16 sec/60° @ 6V Torque: 72 oz-in at 4.8V, 90 oz-in at 6V Length: 1.57" (39.8mm) Width: .79" (20mm) Height: 1.50" (38.1mm) Distance between center of mounting holes: .39" (9.9mm) Weight: 1.7oz (49g) |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Im running Jr Es579's all around.
Tho its time for an upgrade I think. What would be the best reasonabely prices servos out there. But they manage to turn the truck to full lock extremely fast. I think its 13.6KG/CM. Have 2 of them, 1 for steering, 1 for throttle + brake. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
If you guys wanted stiffer springs for the shocks, you can just use the Kyosho ST-RR Big Bore Shock Springs. My friend has a set of the Blue St-rr springs on his ST.
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ok , so my servos are a bit rubbish and it is time to upgrade :)
are you recomending the futaba 3805? isnt it slower than a 3050 ? any other value for money servos you can recomend? |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
go with ACE servos.
|

Ive always liked [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/3826]these ones[/link]
[link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_61_100/products_id/12617]And at 403 OZ/in, it'll turn you around[/link] The last link I think has the best servo IMO if not overkill. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
anybody upgrade the engine mount? i'm looking for a 1 piece mount, if i loose a screw its another clutchbell/spur gone.
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Ive never seen a single peice mount, if you find one, pleasee let me know too.. I had to drop an aluminum block inbetween the mount and engine to act as a spacer so my gears would mesh properly.
I HATE MESHING GEARS.! |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
what about nova raceing ..they have one piece engine mounts...??

FYI.. The 8711 series servos are for Air. The 9001 series which are the new version of the 9000 series servos are for surface. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Guys, is [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_61_100/products_id/18374]this servo[/link] any good.?
I might order 2, 1 for brake/throttle and one for steering.? Thanks |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Its got enough power for Steering. Alittle slow for T/B, but it will work.

O and my Jammin .28 runs like a champ now in my st pro :) plug fouled out on me or came bad ima assume bad from the start cuz my friends started right up uggghh I just can't wait to get mine on the track !!! |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Ill change all the oils out on Saturday. After I get back from the track, I have brakes waiting to go in. Will do it all at once, or maybe if I get the time of day to do it tomorrow.
Any opinions on what shock oil, extremely bumpy track, one 5 foot jump, otherwise a mainly flat surface. Shock oil options listed above. Thanks :D |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Alright I give up.
After 4 hours of trying everything possible, I havent managed to get the stock brakes to work well. Now im ready to throw this thing off a roof.! Why'd I start messing around with it anyway.! [:@] The stock ones were alright before. ! Ill put the racers edge ones in tomorrow, and just turn the stock calipers around, I destroyed 2 good sets trying EVERYTHING. [:@] Just teaches you, dont try and fix what is NOT broken [:@] AaahhhH.! |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
lol mate i know how you feel .....
ive just bought to ace servos so ill see how they go when they arrive and i have that hitec one you showed as a spare. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Like honestely.
Theyve built a FANTASTIC truck. And forgot about the brakes [:@] I tried EVERYTHING, brake linkages, sanding the discs, polishing the discs, new pads!, tightining up everything.! Ill try and get it fixed tomorrow HOPEFULLY.! [sm=tired.gif] Im so freaking sleep deprived and this is honestely the last thing I needed [sm=cry_smile.gif] Ah well. Life sucks, deal with it :D |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
i have taken my st apart know to rebuild the diffs and shocks with new oils , Which ones i am going to try i still dont know i think its gonna just be a trial and error thing
just bought 2 ACE 8128 digital servo it has nearly 15 kg of torque is that enough for the steering ? . it is also pritty fast 0.1 sec Or do you think the ace ds1015 would have been a better choice? here are the links for the servo specs http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/5994 http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/5994 |
