RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
No must do's. But you can change out the battery/radio box mod, change out fuel tanks, the stock fuel tank posts are a bit weak.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I think the Fibre brake disc's are a must, especially if you are going to race

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Anyone having problems with the diffs leaking? I've had nothing but bad luck with the rear diff. I've tried filling it up to a certain point where the gears are barely covered. I have checked the o-rings and diff cup seal and I still get the same results. My front or center do not leak but the rear does. I'm currently running 7k/10k/3k. Is there any other way to seal the diffs? I have lubricated the seals as well and have sealed the grub screw.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
If never had my front or rear diffs leaking. The only diff that leaked on my hst was the center diff. But that was just because i didnt tighten it good..
Where does it leak at the diff? screwholes? |

I used the Kyosho Diff Gasket and relubed and haven't had an issue since. The rubber o-ring between the crown gear and diff case is useless. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ORIGINAL: spikeitaudi Finally got around to taking out my front and rear diffs due to them leaking. And boy did they leak. Both Empty. That red rubber band that seals the front and rear diff to the main gear is a joke. When taking it apart I compared it to my brother-in-laws Kyosho Inferno Buggy and guess what. The Front and rear diffs are identical down to every part. The thing about the Kyosho Inferno buggy diff is it also has a gasket inbetween the diff cup and the main gear. So I order it and it was a perfect fit. Cleaned out the diffs relubed put them back together plus the new gasket. So for anybody looking to fix the leak with the front and rear diffs here is the part I used. [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/4144]http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/4144[/link] While we were at it my brother-in-law also fabricated some new gas tank posts as the stock ones just don't cut it. We made them alittle thicker and used small rubber orings to dampen the tank from vibration. Works like a charm. Here are some pics of the new mounts. After all the new mods went out for a test run and the mounts and new gaskets worked like a charm. Kudos to Jerzferno for making the new mounts. |

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I am using the rubber ring and the gasket together. No shimming. Just added the gasket and it's tight as can be with no leaks. I was leaking like crazy without the gasket.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I had problems with leaky diffs too, like spikeit I used an extra gasket, but I used an XRay one (Scan back a few pages to find the part no). I also ended up putting PTFE tape on the screws - Since then not a drop has leaked.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
You might want to create a new thread and ask that question instead of the Hyper ST pro Thread. Might get more hits.

i found some super cheep hyper st pro parts on ebay, seems like a chop house. i've been buying from him since he had hyper 7 parts, then hyper 8.5 parts and now hyper st parts. i found a whole diff for $14, crown gear and all! the body was like $27 too, not bad. fast ship too, got to fl in 3 days. here's the link, plcman1 is the seller.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
14 bucks for the front or rear diff is about the going rate on Ebay. If you can get the Center for that much that is a different story.
On a different note, raced the Hyper today with new 2060sc pipe and header on my OS 21 V-Spec and was running ok in the qualifier, but in the Mains it ran real lean all the sudden. Not sure if I got bite by the Hyper fuel tank bug. But I might be doing the Mugen tank convertion. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
i painted it myself.... the chrome was my first try at painting.. hopefully the modded vspec is ready soon!

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I ran the OS V-spec before on it before in the last race and took 5th in the AMain. And that was with the Stock Hyper .28 pipe that comes with the kit. As I was going through plugs to quickly I changed out to the 2060sc pipe which was ony 70 bucks with the pipe and header combo. It was a steal I couldn't pass up so put it on and retuned. It was fine in the qualifer, but then in the Main it was just so lean. And I didn't touch a thing and conditions didn't really change so I am thinking it might of been the tank. I am going to change out the fuel lines anyway thou. That is cheap and quick. But I will have my LHS but in the order for the Mugen tank also. Still finished 5th in the AMain :)
