RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Thanks, I ordered the starter box from towers. The blue one with dual motors.....
Do most of you guys race .21 engines? Are they better than .28's? This is just for local racing so I dont need a $500 motor. The one I had my eye on was the - Werks TL28B7 .28 7 port Racing Engine Any thought's... I've been reading on .21's and everyone says get the LRP Z .28R Spec 3 Nitro Engine Non-pull start or the sportwerks v2 I've only been running lately mach 427 on a different car. So I have nothing to compare it to. Any thoughts? Thank you, brian |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I run the OS 21 VSPEC. It's does just fine.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Hi there I just got a HYPER ST PRO with a MACSTAR 28 I got the pre built st pro car with a 28 with under an hours running all in mint condition. No exhaust no radio gear and near new tyres for £200. The man who sold me it just missed the Scottish Championship by one point and only raced it for one season then sold it to me with the diffs reoiled and shocks filled up and with a 13t clutchbell. I am looking for a bigger or the biggest clutch bell but I don't have any parts list or part numbers and don't see any place with them listed please help how many different sizes are there and where can I get them.
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I tried the 13T clutchbell on mine with an RB WS7 III, but found I was revving out too quickly at Remote World in Slough. I have now changed to a 14T again, but will only know if it's better in the Spring. My Winter engine is an old Team Orion Wasp 26, with less than a gallon on, which I run with a 14T and it's perfect. I use the bigger engine in the Winter to cope with the mud which weighs the cars down something horrible.
What engine are you running on yours that you want the biggest CB, and what will you be doing with it. As for The Hyper ST being heavy, I have reduced the weight of mine by just over 200 grams, by using self made Carbon Fibre shock mounts, centre chassis brace, Hong Nor Super big bores and milling the chassis. I am around the same weight as the X2 now, which is great. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I'am using the 28 macstar engine that has no pullstart just a backplate on the back needs a starter box. Want to know what the biggest there is I heard that it was the 16 but have seen bigger ones but cannot say if there were for the st pro. I am not going to race it but I usually don't do jumps and love a flat open space with gavel and short grass and tarmac. I have not yet put radio gear in it what would be the best radio to buy for it.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
K, you can run a 16T which you can get from Apex Models or any other good hobby store. It will fit right on, no problem, just remember to re-mesh the gears.
Just keep in mind that it will blunt the acceleration somewhat, but give you a higher top end. My 8 year old is still running his original Mac 28 over the Winter, before switching over to his new V-Spec for the Spring / Summer. We run a 14T CB on that and it's a good balance for the engine. Remember that as far as power goes, the Mac is on the much lower end of the 28 scale and even has less power than some good top end race 21's. The only engine I have ever run a 16T CB on in the ST was a LRP 28 Spec 3 as it was so mental power wise and kept wheelying with a 14T. making it unmanageable on the track. Good luck and let us know how it goes. As for radio gear, what is your budget. If you are not racing, I would say go for the Spektrum DX3-S, it has telemetry built in also, which tells you things like speed / revs / temps, etc. on the display. Actually, it's a good radio, even if you are racing. And, best thing is, you never need to worry about crystals again. I think they are around the £160 to £170 mark. Also available from Apex Models or other good hobby shops. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
hey guys. nice truggys here. what paddle tires/rim combo is everyone running and should i run them on the front and back of it for snow and sand? and im buying a hyper st rtr from my uncle but it has a hpi .25 new motor in it with the stock hyper st pipe and he hasnt ran it yet. do you think this is a good combo? and finally i know this is the pro thread but do you think $300 for a hyper st rtr that has a new hpi .25 motor(a gift from me) the original mac star .28, a ofna starter box, and new reciever battery pack and a crappy body. do you think $300 for this stuff is a good deal?
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I have a set of paddles off my old HSP Tornado 3/4 offset or something rediculous like that, that fit perfectly on it. makes it wider too lol. They should be pretty cheap too.
You can get a good drift on the road with them too :D:D Sounds awesome when it looses traction. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
cool thanks! do you think this paddle/wheel combo would fit and work? here http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18830 and http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/6939 . and last thing, should i do paddles on the front and back or just the back? thanks!
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Sorry dude the paddles i was thinking about were the normal 'monster truck' style paddles.like this-
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/3532 Those ones you gave the link for are for sand only. with those wheels you will fly across the sand...lol. with a 4wd car/truck you will need the sand paddles on all 4 wheels. don't know about snow though, i think the monster truck tyres would be better for that. i've only ever seen the snow twice,[X(] |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ok thanks. i think im going to go with the paddles from the link i show'd you. i bet that thing would rip across sand with paddles! i just though it wouldnt handle very good with paddles up fornt even though its 4WD.thanks
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
If it was a rear wheel drive it wouldn't steer verry well up front with the sand paddles.
Have a look at the baja front sand wheels . very different |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I'm Going to purchase a Hyper ST Pro. I plan on going with the Jammin JPX-.28, but I'm not sure what servos to go with. What do you guys recommend on servos and is the JPX-.28 a good choice. This is my first "KIT", and I'm very excited about building it from ground up. I have a Traxxas REVO3.3, Traxxas JATO, Sportwerks Turmoil, Losi AFTERSHOCK (converted to LST2), and my Wife has an Ofna RAVAGER. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
My recommendation if you have the budget is to go for the Team Associated XP DS1015's. Same as the Ace servos we use here. Great speed and reliability and fantastic after sales service here in the UK, not that I have had to use them at all.
My team mates and myself (numbering 5 in total) have used them for over a season of hard racing and they still as new. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
hey there, well I have the hyper st in , rtr version but have upgrades for it. I 'm having trouble with the cnc wing mount brace??? The holes from the top view line up perfect but the the holes from the rear don't match up??
Any thoughts? brian |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Don't worry too much about the holes from the back. I don't think they are supposed to line up. The ones from the top are the important ones. Was the same with the other Pros I have built.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
thanks squeeguk ,
let me see if I can get the rest put together now. Thanks brian |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
hi guys dont mean to interupt anything. but i thought id post here instead of making a thread for this simple question. got my hyper st rtr ordered from nitrohouse. heres my question. when i want to paint a new body. will i be able to buy the pro body or does the pro not fit on the rtr? another thing i want to use my dx2.0. will a spektrum receiver fit in it? last Q. do the body suporters fit the rtr body? im getting the blue, white, and black body not the red, white, and black. well i hope this question about the rtr isnt an upset to anyone of you guys here. thanx in advance, clay unruh
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
The Pro body will fit on the RTR, you just need to ensure that the holes are on the body for the rear shock tower mounts. The only difference between Pro and RTR is that the Pro has only 1 rear mount and it's mouted in the middle of the aluminium shock tower and the RTR has two mounts on each side of the plastic shock tower.
Any Hyper ST RTR body will fit on the RTR chassis, the colour makes no difference. The Spektrum DX2.0 receiver will fit in the box no problem with loads of space to spare. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
thanx for the info. it'll help me out. i guess that the body suporters will fit the rtrs body as well?
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Yup, the Hyper ST RTR / Pro bodies come with holes alrea drilled for rtr body posts whether they're painted or not.
cheers, kal |
