hyper st mini
has anybody got one of these hyper st mini truggies yet?ive just ordered one and was wondering how durable they are etc.thanks
|
RE: hyper st mini
I am toying with the idea of getting one. I have seen one run at my local track. It TQ'd by a full lap on the CRT.5s and is very durable. It did break, but it flipped after a triple, and got collectedby another car at full speed. It only broke the front suspension arm. so it is strong.

RE: hyper st mini
Is it same size as CRT.5 ?
|
RE: hyper st mini
yeah its the same size as the crt.5,i had one of them but sold it to a mate who uses it for spares.he has got a ab modded picco 12 red dot in his so i am looking for a serious motor to put in my hyper, probably go with the os18tz.my truck should be here tomorrow so i will let everybody know what its like.

RE: hyper st mini
I see your from the UK, where did u get it from? how much?
|
RE: hyper st mini
modelsport £159 i think apex models have them as well.je spares might have em as well.hope it is more durable than the crt.5 that i had it fell to bits.
|
RE: hyper st mini
I'm looking forward to your review.. I might need a fall project..
|
RE: hyper st mini
Have you got your's yet? How is it?
|
RE: hyper st mini
got it yesterday but not run it yet.it has some nice features on it for the price including the coolest drain system for when you get fuel on the top of the tank[i think]im having to order a switch with the futaba connectors and a charge lead for it in morning.the reciever box is tiny though and you need a aaa cell reciever pack.

RE: hyper st mini
PICTURES PLEASE.
:D |
RE: hyper st mini
i am virtually computer illiterate and can never get pictures onto forums
|
RE: hyper st mini
If you email them to me - I could give it a go (have figured out on other forums, just not this one yet - never tried)
|
RE: hyper st mini
ORIGINAL: mogi i am virtually computer illiterate and can never get pictures onto forums But come on!! You're the first one here with this thing - you gotta' show it off... :D |
RE: hyper st mini
still no pictures but here is the first impression-the little peice of rod that is used for the steering ackerman is a bit naff, its got no room to work on it,can just fit a 800mah shumacker mini reciever pack in the compartment and it needs a new switch(futaba connectors)the diffs are filled with about a milligram of grease, and thats the bad points.
the good points are it steers like a demon, the suspension seems dialed out of the box,the hyper 12 started straight away and me and a mate say its quicker than the force 12 in the crt.5 after a couple of tanks only.the brakes are mental even with the rtr servos,it looks cool and the exhaust is a proper one not like the cheap rtr junk on the crt.5.summary is the hyper seems better put together than the crt.5 for the money.and its £20 cheaper |
RE: hyper st mini
did these just release? i've yet to see em state side
|
RE: hyper st mini
Saw one at the LHS the other day.... they are FUGLY. I thought the tilted engine was supposed to pull the pipe in so it could be covered by the body, but this one just has a big bulge on the side of the body to cover the pipe. The first thing I would do is swap in a CRT.5 body :)
|
RE: hyper st mini
i think they look better than the crt.5 but i suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholde!!!!the exhaaust is much tighter in to the chassis though so whether you like it or not it is safer, also the hyper rtr comes with a efra pipe and the crt.5 comes with that pos pipe with the rubber manifold.im not knocking the crt.5 as my friends will still kick my hypers arse with that ab modded red dot in it.

RE: hyper st mini
I have posted some in this thread on another forum:
http://www.maxbashing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122161 They are in post number 3, but only of it running, I couldn't find where he was pitting this is NOT mine, just saw one being reviewed for a magazine in the UK. Scott |
RE: hyper st mini
Cool! I think it looks pretty neat - at least in those pics..
|
RE: hyper st mini
All the geometry was stock, he just rebuilt the diffs with 7-10-3 and changed the stock electronics to dual ace servos and lipo + spektrum. It worked really well, he TQ'd a full lap infront of the rest of the field and the stock tires worked excellently on the short grass track. It flew really well adn seemed to be easy to control in the air. Also, it was very fast, even though the engine was still in the final part of break in.
think it will be a very good truck, adn am going to wait for the review to come out (beginning of September) to see, before make my decision - unless I just order it and be done with it. Plus it is my Birthday at the end of september so could be a present. |
RE: hyper st mini
ran mine today and it was flawless, the engine is indeed much stronger than th crt.5 engine.my mates ab modded red dot12 slaughtered it though sso its of to the hobby shop i go haha os18tz is the only option
|
RE: hyper st mini
forgot to add kb u are very strange thinking the crt.5 body is better looking!!!!!!!
|
RE: hyper st mini
It looks a bit strange with a bulge one side but not on the other, but I think it is better just to get the pipe under the body.
|
RE: hyper st mini
disaster struck last night, put the thing on charge and went back to check on it and the reciever pack has melted and took both servo wires with it.ill see what i can do with it later
|
RE: hyper st mini
also the engine s~~t itself today, the front bearing was leaking like a seive and the pullstart assembly was no better.the truck is great but you will need to buy a new engine for it......beware
|
RE: hyper st mini
C.rap.. That sucks..
Hmm.. Hyper seems to like to make good trucks, but sell'em with cr.appy engines.. Oh well, gotta' be a trade-off somewhere I gues.. |
RE: hyper st mini
Front bearings are often leaky on small engines. No indication that there's a problem unless it's throwing your tune out and letting air in. A bit of oil on the chassis is completely normal for nitro minis. The pullstart is another matter, bbut could surely be sealed with silicone. I've had nothing but great luck with all Hyper engines, don't write it off yet, like you said, it was pulling hard.
|
RE: hyper st mini
the performance did drop off and it wouldnt idle,it seemed quite a dramatic change all of a sudden.ive pulled it all apart but not taken a good look at it yet.
|
RE: hyper st mini
I see, ok, good luck. Shame, I find the Hyper motors generally rock solid. Not the greatest performers, but stand up to abuse. Hope it's not the end for that mill.
|
RE: hyper st mini
on inspection the bottom bushing on the conrod was toast as well,so i ordered a os18tz today, willkeep you posted.
|
RE: hyper st mini
ran a couple of tanks through the os18 today...its mental running rich on tank 2 pulling wheelies with a 16tooth cb with 10000w centre diff fluid and running rich.it has bent the dog bone on the right rear end already.might have gone to far with this one.we will see.
|
RE: hyper st mini
You really need to manage a video of this thing somehow.... ;)
|
RE: hyper st mini
i would def get 1 of these for my girl to play with. i think i would leave the os18 on the store shelf tho, she would def have that thing into a pole
|
RE: hyper st mini
Anyone know where to get one of these in the states?
|
RE: hyper st mini
Hey, what frequency do your RTR's come with there in the UK?? On UK ebay it would cost approximately €220 all up to get one sent here to Germany....
I just don't know when it's coming out here. I would be VERY surprised though if it isn't quite a bit more expensive than €220.. I'm tempted.. What kind of top-speed could one expect?.. |
RE: hyper st mini
they run on 27mhz am frequencies as rtr,i put a cheap acoms 2.4ghz technisport radio on it(means you can use a full size reciever hump pack battery with the acoms micro reciever)it will probably do 30mph with the standard 14tooth cb-which is faster than it seems with 12th scale.put some larger profile dirt hawg tyres on it today and it still wheelies on demand with a 16tooth cb on it.os 18tz engines are fast.
my mates crt.5 with the ab modded red dot 12 dont wheely as much but revs much harder.we will see how they last with the big engines. |
RE: hyper st mini
Can you post a link of exactly which OS 18 is needed? And if it needs one, which starterbox? Thanks..
Does it then also need a special clutch or anything? Lastly, what kinds of aftermarket wheel options are there? Thanks.. |
