I've been cutting and supplying rivets made of vinyl for over two years. One row, two rows and three rows. All scales. I rarely sell them cuz no one asks.

I've mentioned this in a Thread.

I received no responces. Not a one.

G-Pete,

Must be your good looks! Go for it!

I'm discontinuing the making of rivets. Beats the living hell out of the machine anyway.

I did and do like the method of applying paint then removing the mask. However, applying vinyl rivets and priming over them has been done for years. I have a "how-to" article someplace, published years ago.

Good luck!

Charles, perhaps if you gave them away they might be more popular, you would get more "sales" I think LOL

well you already have the mask done for the TFGS Mustang, why wouldyou not sell that one? I understand the time constraints that you have and would never advocate sacrificing family and hobby time.

It's the ESM (YT international in the UK) Mustang I have done.

Yes I suppose I could do this. It would need a few hours to draw the instructions up and away we go. Unfortunately demand will be low and can cause so much frustration from people wanting the scheme for their airframe. It's just not worth it, I don't have the time for them (yet).

I give free stuff away on RCU all the time. Maybe I'll spend some time digging up the links?

It is all about marketing... give something away free and people will come a running.

Charge for it and these COBs will turn up a nose. Result is, be prepared to give away all you can produce.

G-Pete, got my rivets today. They look great. One slight problem, the mail carrier decided to leave them on my staircase out in the open instead of on my covered porch...........it rained off and on most of the day. In spite of it all, the rivets are marginally damp. I think they should dry out just fine. Hope to start applying them early next week. Thanks agian, Mike (ACF)

ooops. meant to send this to G-Pete

I cut some Oracal 751 ( one step up from the 651)on occasion. It's all pressure sensitive adhesive. Not sure what application tape he uses butyou should be fine unless the application tape got so wet it's ruined and wont adhere to the cut rivets.

CKLLOYD,

Are you saying you receive unsolicited emails promoting graphic products that you can purchase??

If this is the case, no wonder I get little work.

What's your personal email?

Just kidding actually.

G-Pete and Avaiojet, I've PM'd you both earlier in the week about aquiring a set of cut rivets but have not heard back. Are these not yet on the market for purchase? Any suggestion on what scale size and spacing is on the F4U Corsair?

One thing to keep in mind with the Corsair is that the airframe was not riveted. The Corsair was spot welded. This both saved weight and made for a smoother skin. I've taken measurements of the fuselage of the F4U-1A at the Planes of Fame museum. It was often very difficult to identify the locations of some of the major bulkheads, let alone the formers between them even when touching the plane.
The area forward of the firewall, which is the angled panel line above the wing spar, is all cowling, and does have a lot of fasteners. Also, a lot of panels around the gun wells and the fairings around the vert. and horz. stabs used fasteners too.

I received my sample and applied them to the cowls of two planes, a 135 inch T-6 and a Comp-ARF Corsair. The scale of the rivets seems to be correct for anything of 100 inch or greater. I followed the directions and the rivets transfered smoothly with no problems. I will use these as they become available.

Sean,

Sorry I didn't get back to you.

I did Post that making rivets beats up my machine and my mentioning of it really didn't get any attention or follow up.

Certainly nothing like the interest generated by G-Pete's Thread. His good looks?
