Curt,
Just do like i did.... don't put them on lol. Actually in most of all the original WW2 black/white photo's i have seen, the wing walk outlines aren't noticeabl.
Thomas,
I'm really considering installing the red just to be different as most I see do white. While it may or may not be scale would be debatable though.

Have you checked with Getstencils.com? Vickie was able to modify any nomenclature I needed for my 109...she was great to work with...she was able to even change the data plate numbers so they match...I don't think a color change would be a problem either.

Casey
Thanks Casey but I think I will go with Taylor Made as I am liking what they are offering.

So after staring at my wing for an hour trying to decide about the wing walks and after going over every photo I have I decided on the grey. I think it adds to the detail of the wing without looking over done.

Hey Curt,

Yep the grey looks great mate, well done.

Good to read that remembered that you had to weather it!! You must get pretty excited when she's all assembled together for the pic's, she's looking a treat so far.

Thanks

Ya Casey I sometimes stress over the small details and I shouldn't, as you said problem solved on to the next

Thanks for the compliment Dave, Yes I do get pretty excited and I have been known to have been caught just staring at it admiring it. I am really liking how this one came together and am very happy with it. Once I get the rest of the paint finished and it is weathered I think I am really going to be blown away. I only wish I had more time to get it finished sooner so I can start on another. I honestly think I enjoy building them more than flying them. And I love to fly!!

I had to look twice at the high angle shot you posted at the top of this page Curt. If it weren't for some oversize cracks in the concrete it would be near impossible to tell if the 190 were a full size or a model. Great work!

looking great curt. Your wing walks are going to make me end up putting them on my 190 this winter, when it comes in for winter maintenance and more detailing.

Thank you Chad, I'm very excited with how she is turning out, I'm hoping after she is finished and weathered that I can get some really nice shots of her on the driveway or cut the grass really short and get some good stills in color and black and white.

I'm already thinking about my next build and as much as I want to build a D9. I think as of right now I want to move forward with the Anderson 1/5 scale TA-152 that I have been putting off for a year now. I think it would go great with the 190A.

Thomas, I figured since I already had them I should use em. Of all the photos I have of FW's mostly being black and white. Around half of the ones with the right angles I could see the walks so I decided to go for it and I'm happy I did.

Could someone please tell me where the placards correct location is on the main struts? I've looked at eveyones build threads and no one has them in the same locations, been through Bobs, Todds, Evans and Thomas's builds and no one used the same order?

Curt,
I never could find any good info or photo's to see their exact location, so i just put them in the same general area that i have seen them on other full-scale airplanes

Curt, I put mine on based on a photograph that I saw. I can't swear that they are exactly right. But who would know that anyway? I did get a file from someone in Germany. It was on microfich. I took it to the library to try and read it but the text was so small it was difficult to make out.

Any way.. put them on where you are comfortable with and be happy! lol

Thanks Thomas and Bob, I'll just wing it then.

Thomas, if you want red wing walks let me know I'll just mail you mine. I also have a dark grey. On mine the dark grey wouldn't have been visible but may on yours.

Curt,
The dark grey are the ones i was thinking of using.. if you can send me your old ones, that would save me the hassle of having to mask and paint them.

Oh, i think their is a diagram on one of my bentley sheets showing the gear placard placements also. If i can get some time to pull them out, ill see if i can get you a picture.

I don't remember your address, if you'll PM it to me I'll send those out. I should remember it by now I'll have to write it down somewhere. Don't worry about the gear locator, I placed them as you did, you and Evan used almost the exact same locations, everyone else's were different, plus I liked the locations the best too[.

Thanks again Todd, they really do bring the gear out!

Well I had a bad day today and lost the ESM FW-190A8 1/6 scale. If anyone needs parts I may or may not have them available. Up for sale for sure that is still ok is the ESM crap retracts, Skyshark 3 blade scale 190A aluminum spinner, prestine cowl (don't know how that happened) BCMA 26 CC engine, and a sierra scale retractable tailgear. Rear half of the Fuse is also salvageable for a rear section repair. If anyone is interested don't hesitate to PM me.

Curt

As far as the SisT is concerned, Mains are reinstalled and she is back on her feet, and I am starting to get my paint masks ready for the insignias on the underside of the wings. Just a little more painting and then the weathering can begin, I'm not very experienced in the weathering process so before I start on my 190 I think I will paint up some mock up panels and practice a bit before I do the airframe.

Saddened by the loss of my other 190 I am now needing a replacement so I am going to have to break down and get something else. I really cant afford the ESM D9 right now so I am thinking about getting the smaller 70 inch BF-109 I need something that builds fast that I can get in the air right now so I think I will go with it. But if I find a good deal on something else I may change my mind. May my little 190 RIP [&o]

Ah no!!! Sorry to hear that mate.

Do you know what the cause was? I hope you can gt back on your feet and get flying the luft birds again. Hopefully you can get your hands on the CMpro Bf-109. they are pretty hard to find around here.. Kinda kicking myself for selling mine.

Thanks

Curt, thats a huge suckamundo! Ya know.. the cheapest thing might be to just replace the 190? After all you already have most of the stuff it needs..

To add to what Bob suggested...take your tail end and use it to make a D 9!!!!(with another replacement 190 of course)

Ya guys I'm pretty bummed out about it. Thanks for the condolences though. The failure was the ignition module and I had nor the altitude or airspeed to make it home. It was the second ignition module failure in this plane. I almost wonder if it was due to vibration, I had the module mounted on the firewall to keep all weight forward and thought I had it mounted to resist vibration but I did know that even with a perfectly balanced propellor and without the spinner this plane had pretty bad vibrating firewall, perhaps an out of balance motor.

I have thought about just getting another ESM 190 but mine was the original all composite version. Plus it was kinda a pain to do all the mods like the removable gun hood, the scale retracting tailwheel (mainly mounting it and making it removable and acessable without cutting up the plane. I did it like SisT retracts are designed for removal with the rudder removable.) So I'm kind of thinking been there done that and thats why I'm leaning on the 109. Plus I still had the crappy ESM retracts so I would get the 109 with sierras. I just don't know right now. It would be more logical to buy the latest 190 version and just throw it together to get it in the air. I am also looking at the Flyboys ME-163 for something fun to play with. Either way its no hurry flying season here is pretty much over and I have 1 other plane flight ready at the moment if I get a chance weather approving to fly. If I were to buy the 109 I may have to mod it. There is one done in a swiss scheme on RCSB that shows what they are capable of looking like and I am craving a 109 done in a Hartman scheme.

As you can see by the pics the damage to the fuselage isn't too bad but the wing is totalled. It stalled out and dropped wing first. I have no Idea how to even repair this ESM composite wing stuff so with all my 2 other builds going on I think its best to write it off.
