George:
Glad your making this a true twin...Im not a fan of the single turbine setup...Although it looks cool and seems to fly good...gotta keep it real.
What are you hearing/thinking about your power setup? What are they telling you about fans?
Ive been using AeroNaut TF4000 fans (Neu 1528) On Castle HV160. I put out about 17 pounds of thrust per engine (12S). On the TP 45C 6500MAH packs, I have pushed it to 4:45 flights...but not much reserve beyond that. Gives me about a minute or so for a go around if needed.
65C will help extend the flights some.
Let me know what your thoughts are on fans....I have a 40 pound SU-27 twin I am doing EDF next...and looking for options.

RE: Grumania Me-262A-1a Build
Well I must say work is progressing along nicely. Todd gave me a quick up date today on the birds.
Progress update on 262 #1
all seams sanded, filled and primed on all parts except nacelles.
will be working on nacelles tomorrow.
sand, prime and fill any voids and pinholes that have come up.
fit outter wing panels to center section. trying to detemine from
the manual if the outer wings panels are "plug-in" or not? will know
tomorrow.
have sanded inside of fuse in preparation for interior formers. these
formers have also been test-fit in the plane as well.
rough cut out main gear door openings. marked out nose gear door
openings for removal tomorrow.
been working on fitting horizontal stabs to vertical fin. it is a terrible fit
as seen from pics. working to get it better of course.
262 #2 is also getting all its "bodywork" done now as well (seams filled and primed)
Thanks Todd for the update. Also got a nice present in via UPS today as well all of my servos showed up as well. I am going to put Hitec HS-7955TG on all the surfaces. I am also sending the landing gear to Mitch an Down and Locked Retracts for an electric gear make over. I cant wait to see what he does with them in getting the stagger timed correctly on the take up and deployment. I also got all my batteries ordered yesterday from Duralite. Looks like I am going to use a pair of there 4800mah LiFe batteries on each bird. Also ordered my rx's which are the JR 1222x. So looks like we are trucking along.
Well I tried to up load pics but rcu will not let me right now it looks like so I guess I WILL TRY LATER[:@]

T-shark,
I have to admit I am shocked. You sanded the inside of the fuselage in preparation to take formers ?
We are spending time and money to roughen the surfaces by using peel ply in the manufacturing process to guarantee the best possible adhesion and then you sand this surface ?
You did not do yourself a favour. Peel ply surfaces give a much better glue surface than sanded surfaces.Thats why we manufacturers use this technique. Its not mainly to safe the modeler some time, its the better bond in the first line.

George! glad to see you doing one of these in electric.. I have been thinking of doing an Airworld 262 since I first talked to you you about yours, but this one looks a bit better mainly due to the bigger size. Keep it up! Mike

You should get one if you get the chance. She is quite very large and impressive when you see it. I say it even beats out my airworld FW-190. Now if I can get my ME-109 done as well I will be close to calling it a day on my German birds.
I ordered my lights today for both birds. I picked up the Airpower pro set from Dreamworks. I also got my brake valves as well. I am going to try the Jet-tronic Low Loss Brake Valves being I have not used them before. Now I just have to find a couple of good paint schemes for the both of them.

RE: Grumania Me-262A-1a Build
Well I got an update today from the Burley Flugworks on the progress of the Me-262's.
work complete so far.
rudder hinged as shown. had to re-do aluminum hinge tube (factory installed)
as it wasnt held in well from the factory.
elevators started hinging, set G10 hinge points. again had to re-do aluminum
tube for hinge line as well.
forward nose gear formers installed and epoxied in place.
nose gear set, installed and checked for operation. need to work on pull/pull setup
for stearing, and gear door operation.
main wheels temporarilly installed. found that the wheels (7" diameter) dont fit
the 6 7/8" wheel well opening. although the manual says to "sand down the wheels to fit"
we will go with a smaller diameter wheel. the axles however are also a little off on angle
as the wheels should be perpendicular to the ground. plus when the gear are retracted
the wheels hit the air nipple (although that wont be a problem since we are retrofitting for
electric operation)
working on tail joint fit to be able to permanantly attach tail section.
rear fuse formers installed and Hysol'd in place. wing bolt blocks set, forward wing
dowells installed and wing fitted to fuse.
put her up on her feet to see how she sits
So it looks like we are still on track. I ordered the pilots for the planes from Kathrine down in Australia (I cant remember her web site). These little guys looks so good I order a group of three as well for my 1/3 scale Gotha Bomber I am working on and one 1/3 pilot to go in my new TMMY Models Cessna. My lights and brake valves arrived in from Dreamworks today. I am going to use the Airpower PRO Flight lights on the birds along with the Jet Tronic Brake valves. I am thinking that I am going to go ahead and change out the nose wheel for one from Glennis Aircraft. I will post pics of the paint schemes tomorrow. Who wants to place a bet with me that Todd can't get these done (at least one) by the end of the month as he says he can.......lol

RE: Grumania Me-262A-1a Build
Sullivan makes a 6" tire to fit the rims...I believe that's correct. I had to make shims for both main gear blocks to get close to having the tires perpendicular to the ground. I also took the retracts apart and made new arms that go between the trunion and the actuator mechanism. If u lengthen the distance between the holes a few thousandths of an inch, it allows for a few more degrees of extension of the strut without affecting the retraction angle.

Hey Ryan
Thanks for the info. Todd already ordered the new wheels yesterday. Can you post up a pic or two of your gear setup.

First off I want to pubilcly thank Todd Burley for all his hard work an attention to detail throught out this build. If it were not for him this project would be no were near the state it is now. Todd has found a few issues with the kits and addressed them. He has also put up with me and all my questions that I have been pinging him with constently. He has kept me well informed with the progess throught the pics provided and a briff report of were he is every few days. Again thanks Todd
current update for the 262's.
262 #1 I have gotten the nacelle seams sanded down, primed and
needing final sanding. alot of pinholes in the seams of the nacelles
at the joint. I added additional fiberglass cloth and epoxy at the interior
joint as it was too weak and flexible.
tail feathers hinged, need final sanding at root rib. am working on servo
mount and control horn mount blocks.
marked out wingtip to cutout for lights. will install tube in leading edge to run
wiring thru.
have received new 6" Sullivan wheels which fit much better. have cleaned up
wheel well edges, and ready to cut out landing gear doors for fitting.
have started on aileron hinging. will use supplied carbon rod with kit.
the flaps (inboard) are marked and ready to cutout. the outboard and inboard
flaps will use TamJets hinges at these locations (per Ryan's build).
the center section and out board wing panels have been sanded flush with one another
and started work on setting wing tube per instructions.
also I have finish Hysoling and fiberglassing LE wing dowells into place

Well I have been spending the past several days looking at paint schemes for the planes. I have posted a few images on ones that I am currently considering. I am of course open to input from you guys out there. There are just some many schemes, but I want one that is going to look good on the ground but not completely disapear when flying it.

I was gonna do Yellow 3, then I saw Balck X and had to have the sinsister looking X.
Red 7 is a great scheme also...didn't see that one when I was looking for mine.
