Sorry to hear of your loss dasintex.
As they say there is always another and the TF Giant Spitfire is a
real nice aircraft. Have fun putting her together!

Hey Sonny/jet22b,
are you still on?
Have not heard any updates on your build lately.
How are you doing on that?

Chuck,
nothing like a warbird with retracts. (When they work )
Love the e-flite electrics on my Spitfire and wish I could put some on my
hangar 9 p51 pts. Oh well, one never knows.

Happy building and flying.

Hi Brothers;
One of my club member just post this on our club website. Some one found a old WW2 Airfield and flew over it using a quad-copter. You can still see parts of the runway.!!
Enjoy!!

Here are some pictures of my .40 size Royal Spitfire that I am slowly working on. It was a Hobby shop reject for years and I rescued it back in 2012. BTW, that 1951 M38 jeep in the background belongs to a friend of mine - it's not mine .

Pictures taken from August through end of October (the last three that is). I had to had crave the exhaust manifolds for the Merlin and those balsa boxes on the table top is the radiators that will go on the bottom of the wing. Final picture shows the connecting rod that goes from the tail wheel to the rudder.

Yup - I get to drive the jeep now and then. I have a 1955 "high top hood" jeep that is "my" rebuild project. In other words, its my jeep - but I don't have the title to it so I can't REALLY say that I have (and own) a jeep. Not yet anyway.

I've been checking Youtube for any videos of the new Top Flite giant scale Spitfire. Has anyone, other than the factory, posted any?

Good work on the Spitfire.
It is a 1955(?) Hillman Minx that someone shipped over here to the states. They even converted with the steering wheel on the lefthand side. My friend with the jeep rebuilt this car years ago. Sold it and then somehow ended up with it again. And it doesn't go very fast. Very lucky to get 55mph with a tailwind.

Awhile back I got a good deal on a CMPRO Spit MKII 120 size. Seems like a decent model, with f/g fuse and all, but I have to make some mods to be more scale. flaps are all wrong not split like real spit. The landing gear mounts have to be relocated for the proper angle , as well as sheeting on wings where they are open bays now. Any of you guys have any experience with this bird?

Hey Firebee,

I just procured an older build of the Pica 88" Spitfire. I'll need to do some extensive work before she's where I would like her to be. You mentioned a cowl upgrade for it. Can you send me some info on that as the one that came with it isn't very scale.

Thanks.

Ray

My friend, Mike Koehr, bought the TF GS P40 and then the Spit... both went together with a little work but look good... His DLE55RA over-heated alot in that Spit's cowl...

Make sure you brush a good epoxy everywhere you can... at the gear mounts, in the fuse, the firewall, and the tail wheel mount area... I've got the TF GS FW190 and there is a major issue with the scarcity of glue in what would seem like areas where you'd want some (those mentioned).

Other than that it flies very well. Looks real good in the air. No video yet, sorry.

The tailwheel is the unit that came with the kit but I replaced the wire with a fork that I had on hand from another plane. (Robart sells a similar fork). the mains are Robart electric as are the wheels..

Hi Brothers;
I need some input from the Brotherhood. As everyone know I am working on the ESM 72.5" Spitfire ARF. When I order the ARF from Troy Built, I also order the landing gear system that was made for this bird. To make a long story short, I was not happy with the outcome. This is why there has been no update on the build. I am looking at a pair of Lado retract for this bird. I have look on the web and found no company here in the states sell them. My question to the Brotherhood, has anyone use them?? Please post the pro's and con's for me!!
Thanks, Brothers!!!
