Pleased to report, that one of our LMA members has flown his own design 1/4scale spit across the english channel, he encountered no opposition from marauding ME109s, and landed safely in france,al flying was from full size aircraft, with a spotter/camera plane as well, not bad eh?
makes a change from ambling along to the local field, more details when i see them

About 30 years ago John Nicolaci flew his scratch built 13' span PBM flying boat from New Bedford MA harbor to the island of Martha's Vineyard about 30 miles away. He followed his plane in a speed boat while he constantly made large circles in the air. He had put a large fuel tank in the fuse which pumped up to two nacelle mounted fuel tanks. Not sure how long the flight took. John has now passed and his magnificent PBM, flown for more than 30 years resides at the Hagerstown aircraft museum in Hagerstown MD. Congratulations on your efforts. Things like this are model history making!
I've attached a picture of John and a flyer for the float fly we have every year for him. A picture of his PBM is on the flyer.

Accomplished by a club In Victoria Australia, Western Port Model Aircraft Club or WPMAC, i'm not sure if the record still stands.
April 1994 was the highlight of our Clubs activities, when a small contingent of members took 3 identical model aircraft all the way to West. Australia, and flew one of the models back to the South Australian border, in one flight without landing for fuel, and achieving a new WORLD RECORD for single flight long distance of 493 kms. The successful pilot was PETER GARONI.
