RE: WW1 Fighters
Thanks Peter. What kit is your D-VI- I saw the half scale one fly at Rhinebeck a couple of years ago. It's become a very popular subject over the past few years. I love the cockpit detail work on yours. Thanks for sharing.
I have posted video of the 1/2 scale Fokker DVI in flight here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toRSeuM-GmA
and the Vickers FB5 Gunbus 9-cylinder rotary engine run up here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru5Ufu7x-DM

The kit is from gtm models (Glen Torance) and is powered by a g26 Zenoah and coverd with linen and dope.
Glen is a super guy and is totaly dedicated to his product.
Jaybird you don't fool around three airplanes at once, WOW how does he do it!

RE: WW1 Fighters
I've several of the GTM kits and they are all amazing. Have you flown yours yet? I saw where someone wished you good luck with your maiden. I just maidened a new ARF (sorry) Great Planes 72" WACO YMF-5D this week and it went very well. We have one last day of good weather today and I hope to fly it again after work. It's not WWI, but it's a biplane! When i've gone to Rhinebeck it's quite a trip so i take as many planes as I can fit in the car. At least I'd get three flights in over the weekend!
Jaybird
P.s. My flyable airplanes number 15 at this point between electrics, float planes, Cubs and biplanes.

RE: WW1 Fighters
Was going to maiden fly it today but it has been raining almost nonstop all day here, figures, the rest of the week was perfect, oh well everything happens for a reason.
Maybe tonight I will find I forgot to tighten something when checking it over for the hundredth time.

RE: WW1 Fighters
Last weekend was bright and sunny, but VERY windy with pretty high gusts. I used the time to break in the engine some more at the field and like you to see if anything would shake loose. I made some fast taxi runs at the end of the day, but the trees were still swaying and the wind direction would dictate that I'd have to land coming in from the north which requires staying above the corn and below the telephone wires on that end of the runway. Very late Monday afternoon I had a small window of opportunity and ran up about 7 p.m. as it was getting towards sunset and clouds were coming in but the winds had dropped and switched direction so I could land from the south which is wide open. After some up elevator trim it flew very nicely and I made a good landing before it got too dark.
It's amazing what we will put ourselves through to enjoy our hobby! As friends told me, no sense rushing things or pushing it when the conditions aren't right.
Good luck!

Balsa USA, 1/4 Scale Nieuport 28 C-1,
It's been thru several Scale contest, taken first place 2 years running Team Scale, and flown Top Gun 2 years straight with a 10th place recently. It has flown in many states, most recent trip, Joe Nall 2012.
Keep them coming.............
The S E 5 is a Balsa USA 1/4 scale also that belongs to a friend of mine who happens to be the original builder of the Nieuport.

Hey Jaybird do you know what the center of gravity is on that BUSA eindecker is ? I have one I got second hand and had to work it over and recover it about to mount the motor but I haven't been able to find the cog anywhere on their website or anywhere else for some reason maybe I just haven't looked hard enough.
Thanks Tracy
