Ok. So I picked this up from a fellow flyer, and I came across one thing that doesn't look right on the retracts. Which one is right?? Take a look

is this adjustable? Fixable? I hate to mess with settings since they open and close well.

dont cycle them too meny times in a row they can burn up the motors or circuits.... My recommendation would be to sell them to someone else and get the air operated set

There is a modification to help prevent bent pins. It involves adding a second plastic block to support the pins better. As far as I have been able to gather, this is also a problem W/the pneumatics as they are mechanically the same.

Oh no.....you are firing up the same misunderstandings once again....I suggest those who are in the need, go back some pages and read the full explanation from Joe at Robart.....

Wrong material was used in the pin in the first production batches, that is all.

I have tried contacting Robart to BUY a couple of these plastic blocks - but they dont even have the courtesy to answer emails -( ERIC - do you read this at all ) so does any one know if they are even still available ?
Im thinking of making a couple out of ply - which should do the job ....

would now like to add Joe at Robart; very promptly too - has sent me the two new support blocks, I have them fitted and hope they do the job - along with binning the stock foamy wheels and adding 5" Dubro ones ...Thanks Joe :-)

Okay... my ARF Flyin Axis brethren...

Had 5 great flights today all greased landings and go to pull the wing off the fuse (packing up at noon) and I see a bunch on cracks under the monokote on the bottom of the right wing panel (center section to the root)... Any of you seen this?

Sparky, do you mean cracks in the balsa skin? No, havent seen that.

Doesnt sound good!! Perhaps you need to cut it open and have look inside.

Perhaps you've had a hard landing earlier on?

well.. I got a txt from one of my flight line buddy who apparently failed to mention that he "may" have heard a crack in the balsa when he offered to put my plane on it's wheels early today... I have a pic but it just shows a crack near the center section along one of the sheeting balsa...

Well, add me to the list with a bent pin. My second landing I made a turn before slowing to a crawl and bent the pin. I'm pissed.

Another note on the bent pins on Robart Retracts. Yes, you can add a second block with the electric retracts to strengthen the joint, but I don't see how you could do it with the air retracts. The connection from the air cylinder rod is much different than the electric version, and I don't see a way to make it work. By the way, the last time I talked to Robart they mentioned that all of the new trunions (that's the part with the pin) have the dual pin on them. The air retracts come with a single pin.

We have had some success bending the pins back, but every time you do that it likely makes them weaker.

Had some fun at the Owatonna Warbird event this past weekend. Got a bit close flying formation with the two 190's when we were trying to avoid another aircraft that lifted off into our pattern (as in we had a Mid Air collision). Good news is we got both planes down ok and only need some minor repairs. Landed mine with half an elevator and no rudder. The other plane had half of one side of the prop broke off. It caused a bunch of screws to vibrate loose, but didn't break the firewall. Here's a couple of photos.

That's such a bummer... I actually have a right side horizontal stab on the shelf... I would've sent it to you but it look like you got the left side like me...

Actually the stab is perfect, all I need is a left side elevator half. I'm thinking of building one instead of paying $100 for a complete Horizontal Stab kit.

Dave,

I hate to chime in on this thread, but I'm trying to get your plans for your 1/4 scale DVI? I understand it's quite the airplane. Please let me know "how " to get in touch with you. I could possibly use CAD or a hard copy.

Thanks,

Ray

Where is a Source to get more realistic Machine Guns for my Top Flite FW190; I can live with the ones provided for the wings but would like to change the ones they provided for the Gun Hood; I know someone had a Lathe and they used and Machined the ones that came with their TF FW190 to be more scale like, I don't have a Lathe, wish I did, hey good excuse to get one.......nay, the wife would have a coronary.

Thanks.
