Tomorrow is the dreaded wing fillet day. I'll try to knock these out while watching the final NFL playoff games.

Filelts are done on one side. Lots of tedious time making templates. Teh fillet was done in 4 ections. Teh section from Former F-5 to F-6 was simply micro-balloons and epoxy. Then there wesr 3 separate sheets glued to the top side. The rest of the upper fillet was comprised of 3 different sheets of 1/16 balsa. the first sheet was spanned from F-6 to
F-9, and is shown in the first picture. The second sheet/picture spanned F-9 to F-12, and the last sheet/picture spanned F-12 to the aft of the rear 1/32 ply fillet base. Then is was all filled will wall spackle to be later sanded to clean up imperfections.

Before glassing the fuse, I added 1/4 soft balsa triangle stock top and bottom to create a gap seal for the elevator.

Next I dry fit the elevators to install the fairings. The plans call for shaping from 3/4 soft balsa. I decided to build them up, open bay, using 3/32 balsa

The fuse is all glassed. Time to fit the wing center section to the fuse and build up the belly pan. The wing center section is all glassed and sanded smooth, and the outer wing panels are in primer with the servos fit.

OK I have both motor boxes installed. I must say, sitting there, it looks to be a Nosed 310 wing section

Ok, the wing panels are all in primer and ailerons glued in with Gorilla Glue. Now, I have installed the center section on the fuse in preparation to build up the belly pan. If you look closely in the second picture, just behind the cockpit, you will see the mount bases for the upward firing 20 mm cannons (X2). Nothing fancy, as they will be covered by the 1/64 ply to make up the fuse top; just some 1/2 inch balsa sheet cut at a 32 degree angle. you can also see the filling primer on the tail, to find imperfections that will be filled with Evercoat.

Belly pan was started and is now sheeted and glassed. I will post a pic once resin has cured. I also glued in the elevators and rudder, with trim tabs and test fit the rudder counter balance.

As I finish up the belly pan and fairing, I thought I would post a picture of the dash from a company call Scale Aircraft Components (SAC). This one is specifically for Dave Andersen's Ki-45.

Shock...RCU picture upload 500 erroring again.....

I took the day to lay up an additional layer of 6 oz. cloth/polyester resin to beef up the gear door area of the nacelles. In the mean time, I am glasing my Nose P-51 wing while the resin cures
