Hey guys I have a few questions. I am currently looking into a top flite p-40 60 arf, and I'm curious could you add mechanical retracts? Or do you have to put the air retracts in? Any info would be appreciated!

Go to Tower Hobbies and or Top Flite website and down load the manual. I did this before I pick-up the ARF. In the manual they show the fix or pneumatic retract set-up. I don't see why you could not go with mechanical retracts. As for me, I went with the air retract. On my maiden flight I had to do a gear up landing because I forgot to put the screw back into the servo arm on the retract servo and made a text book landing on the belly with no damage!!! Now I have over 15 flight on her and I love it!!! If you go with mechanical retract, we want to see pictures of your set-up!!!
Also, welcome to the P-40 Brotherhood!!!

I know they would be hard to set up, I may just stick with solid gear until I can purchase the nice retracts! Thanks again for all the help, If I purchase the p-40 I will be joining the brotherhood!

I bought a TF .60 when they first came out and put robart 615's in it, nothing but problems and belly landings. I sold her and bought another beginning of this year and put in the century jet retracts, more expensive but worth the extra $. My new TF .60 warhawk comes in about 12lbs and putting mechanical rotators would be a headache and to me not worth saving a few extra $. Put a good set of air gear in her and avoid the belly landings and frustration.

Following a lot of trial and failure with the 1/7 TF P-40 Warhawk lower cowl decal, I decided to try my hand at some custom art work and paint it myself.
