Robart eletric actulator help needed ?????

Hi I bought the Robart eletric actuator sold mostly as a replacement and or unit for tail wheel conversion from air to eletric.
Ok , this is my problem , I assumed it was a self contained forward /reverse linear servo.
Well surprise surprise , its nothing more them a unit that has no ebridge for forward reverse movement so I assume it needs to be used with the control board that the main units from Robart have to be used with.
So my question is two part , 1) is my assumption correct and 2) is there an easy solution outside of the $100 control unit sold by Robart ?
My goal was to use the unit as a compact linear servos for a canopy , looks like that idea is out the window .

The board is your only option. I have 3 sets of Sierra gear that down and locked converted for me. Same board and actuator that robart uses. And the actuator will only work properly with the board for back and forth operation. The set that I have for my ESM mustang is no longer in use but I have a h9 150 mustang waiting on good gear. I ordered a set of robart 630 that will be getting the electric setup off of the ESM gear. I have looked everywhere for the controller that they use. I have found the motors but no controller.

Wow,,
I just bought a tail unit making the same assumption, that it would work like Lados, now after reading your post I see there is no signal wire.
My bad for not doing my homework,,
I was thinking maybe a type of mechanical current reversing controller might work, but I just tested it, it holds a about 1.6 amp load when it reaches the end of the cycle,, it doesn't power down. Looks like the Robart controller is needed

For the cost of a couple of microswitches and a DPDT switch you should be able to use the actuator for your canopy.

I think that Lado also has the small units that do the same work in a linear motion with no board
.!!!
I have the Figerlli and they are flawless but I wanted a smaller unit for my needs of the canopy , I should have gone with the Wingspan or Lado new ones
