CaptRKO....
just curious as to which part of your canopy is failing ?? I haven't flown mine yet but would like to beef up any weak links beforehand.
I have the same set up as you..G-62 with Robart air.
Thnx, Eric

I tried a servo screw into the very top of canopy towards the rear end....it held but the rest of the sliding canopy part cracked and exploded off! My airplane is doing at least 100MPH now on high speed passes!
The small "sliders" or white plastic mounting "T" that goes into the track tend to vibrate out as well.......again the magnets are very weak and probably could be doubled out easily.
The only solution (again) is to turn on my airplane, then lock the canopy by sliding it forward and using clear packing tape. The design is weak at best.
ANYONE KNOW THE CORRECT SIZE OF THE FUEL TANK? I AM REPLACING MINE AS WE SPEAK! My "clunk" was no good after 3 years!
The G-62 is the PERFECT choice....she is bullet proof and helps with nose weight....mine is the simple magneto type....prop turns the thing is getting a spark.....NOT ONE DEADSTICK yet! 150 flights!

After 2 sliding canopies and experiencing the exact failures described above I decided to just move the switches to the outside of the plane (I had two in the cockpit) and put the solid canopy on. Problem should be solved now!!
I also have the G62 and like it. I upgraded the muffler this winter as well, removed the stock one and put in a Jtec side dump muffler. RPM's should go up as well as speed. Last two years I've been getting lapped by my buddies with their Top Flite Corsairs, now I hope to keep up!

I installed a Bennett muffler and she RIPS! I can easily keep up with the TF Corsairs....and I look much better!
Need a new tank......my guess is a 24oz Dubro what OEM from what was in the kit?
She has been a good bird the last 3 years.....I have flown her a lot.

For you viewing pleasure ......here is my H9 Corsair flying against a Top Flite Corsair down in Texas City at our annual Warbird event, you can see how the G-62 performs and compare both airframes.......funny how NOT ONE ZERO dared to venture up with us for our dual act! HA!

Slight THREAD drift back to the airframe......I lost my 8th canopy today, love the sliding canopy but hate buying new ones, anyone have a fix that will keep the sliding canopy attached? (I know I could glue on the non sliding canopy) how about a good source for some canopy rails?
Thanks!
150+ flights over 3 years,,,,,,,still going strong, G-62- Robert Air retracts.

not too many flights on my Corsair yet but I have not had the Canopy problem with the FG-84 fitted. I am thinking of putting some extra Magnets at the top though. Anyone tried that?

On the second canopy I an added extra magnet to the top of the canopy behind the pilots headrest and a small screw behind the canopy that had to be removed each time to open it and then put back in to keep it held forward, to no avail. I think the problem is that the sides blow out during flight. It's a neat idea but poor design and execution.

One side of the canopy would away flex outward. I fixed the problem with two strong magnets attached to the side of the fuselage and a small piece of metal attached to the canopy. As you slide the canopy forward the two magnets hold the canopy to the fuselage.

The weather here in Wisconsin is finally getting nice outside. I'm looking forward to fly the Corsair again.

Is it possible that the "blowout" could be negated by having an air tight cockpit (from the fuse side)? The air entering from the fuse to the cockpit during the flight, creating pressure, might be the reason for the blowout. Just a thought.

I finally got the maiden flight in!
It was a cool with about a 15mph wind right down the runway.
Here is a poor quality video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU2eHEL85w4&t=175s
Flew fine but the engine was not running great.
Missing at full throttle but smoothed out at about half, need to work on that.
The engine has plenty of power though.
Short flight and I missed the runway but no damage!
I did learn that I need to tie it down in the trailer differently.
Trailers apparently bounce things around pretty good.

The plane is heavy enough I should have used them.
I am just glad I did not hit a prairie dog hole!
Can't wait to get here up again!

I bought one of these from a friend who built it with a DLE55 and on-board starter. It has never flown yet. I am wondering if the DLE55 will be adequate? I am trying to decide if an EME 70twin would be better? Just not sure about modifying the firewall? I have seen videos of this plane with the Saito FG84 R3 and it sounds awesome! I am wondering if I should bite the bullet on that cost? Your thoughts and opinions would be welcomed.

Having both, the dle55 is more than adequate for this size aircraft. The 70 is one of my favorite engines, strong running and very smooth, little vibration. You will probably need to cut spark plug boot hole in cowl.
My 55's shakes considerably more and is harder on the airframe, but is a very good strong engine with a 22/10 prop.
Personaly I would fly it the way it is and make the change later if you are not happy. The starters are sweet to have and will spoil you, a lot safer and give you the restart option should engine die away from you.
Again, fly the plane and enjoy it the way it is.

Reverend; the MSR collector has a deeper exhaust note that sounds better than the Keleo, in my opinion. The back drop scenery, mountains etc. is spectacular; you and fellow flyers are truly blessed to have such a beautiful place to fly.

I was wondering of someone else would notice. I spoke to Mr. Maier from MRS and he told me they experimented with different pipe diameters till they got the sound right. The pipe for the ring has a slightly larger diameter than the Keleo and it seems to work. having both I can confirm that it has a deeper note.
Yeas, we are very blessed but it comes at a price. We are the last field that is still allowed to fly gas planes in a 40km diameter and we dont know how long it will last. The valley is narrow and the suburbs are closing in... On the up side, you can always take your glider up to the mountains to catch some thermals...
