Ty stang flyer to clarify i knew the 17 inch prop was way to big the instructions say to use a 15x8 two blade. the engine says it will swing a 17 inch prop so I was thinking that it would be around a 15 inch 4 blade two inches smaller than maximum I just need to know what pitch would be most effective on the 125 running the 4 blader so 15x?

Yeah, I am not well know for being politically correct any more. I still use terms like Shell Shock remembering what it was like to see a Redskins game. Oh well.
Just for correct PC structure, the Commemorative Air force owns it but the title says, Confederate Air force.

Hey, You're welcome. As for the 17" prop that Saito states the 125 will spin...this is true. However keep in mind, a 17" prop is more for "scale" flying. (Low rpm) Unless you go to a real low pitch for like pattern flying. Like a 4 or so. To really get the four stroke glows to preform, it is really important to keep the power band in the 8800 rpm to 9400 rpm range. I believe with a 17" prop, you will be well below that. Unless you are using a 4 or 5 pitch. As I mentioned, I am turning a 16x6" APC at about 9200 to 9400 rpm. The 125 seems to really like it and the performance on my Blue Nose Mustang is very good. So rule of thumb, 16" two blade prop, reduce by two inches for the extra two blades...hence, 14" prop. As for pitch? You could try a 5 or 6 pitch. I do think your rpm numbers are going to be around the 8600 to 8800 range. At this rpm, the motor will run well, but throttle response may be just a "TAD" on the slow side. Remember, four strokes are not like a two stroke. They have more moving parts and a combustion cycle every other revolution of the crank. A two stroke on the other hand, every time that piston comes up, it is firing. So with a four stroke, they naturally rev slower. If you are truly set on a four blade prop, I honestly would not go above a 14x6. Here is another example. I have a Saito 180 on my 95" Cessna with onboard electric starter. The 180 will turn up to an 18' prop. It really likes a 17x6 APC. On my bigger Mustang, it would turn the 17x6 at about 9500. On my Cessna I am turning a Graupner 16x8 three blade. I am only getting about 8800 rpm. And remember, from 17x6 two blade at 9500 to a 16x8 three blade, (one extra blade) 8800. If I dropped the pitch to a 6, I might get more rpm, but probably only about 300. So hence, that puts it back to the same rpm range basically as the two blade. I do hope this helps. As I mentioned, try to keep in mind that for every extra blade, you need to reduce diameter of prop by one inch. The pitch is "play" factor on getting just the right one.

Soon my Friends, SOON I will have my P-51 done. My Corsair is nearly completed, the wing is ready for primer, fuse will be ready next week, so a few more weeks of final assembly and I can move onto the P-51 and finish the wing and get it ready for primer. The Fuse can be ready in one day, provided I dont cut the nose off first and realign it to a different motor. Still undecided if I want to pop in the YS 110, or try the Saito 100. The Saito is too pretty to hide in a cowl though. I may just go ahead and order a DLE 20 RA instead since the 20 was the original intended motor for it, hence the doubled firewall and screwed up nose. I didn't feel that the stock FW would be strong enough for the DLE and added 1/4 inch ply to it, but something happened and now its a droop nose Mustang. I will probably just pop out the T-nuts and band saw the plywood off, and smooth down the face of the FW and remount everything and try to make the nose look correct. I think I messed up the thrust line somehow with the shaft being lower than it should be, just doesnt look right.

Flyboy,
Great Flying Undertaker,
Who did your graphics? Can you tell me the width of your black and yellow wing stripes, your yellow and black fuse stripes and black and yellow fuse stripes?
Any help and advice who be welcomed.

Wanted: Pica 1/5 P-51 build manual
Hi all,
Does anyone have build manual (hard copy or PDF) for the Pica 1/5 scale P-51 that I could obtain? I recently picked up a partially finished kit, but it did not come with the build manual. Some research suggests that it's a pretty good manual, so I'd really like to find one.
Thanks,
Mike

Very interesting idea with the front hatch. Looks like it would give great access.
Are the rear door latches locking types? I'm thinking of vibration possibly making them, especially the top one, work loose in transit. I have a trailer with similar latches and I ended up drilling a small hole (1/8" maybe?) in the end of the pin and pushing a cotter pin through the hole for a positive lock. Just a thought...

Mike, I used aluminum tubing in the TF guns and paint doctored them up ... Look good.
FRED ... Love the pain on that one! You always have something COOL. Confererate Air Force is politically correct. Ppl need to grow up and quit getting feelings hurt.
On the 120 4 blade. I'd recommend the Zinger. The Biela blades are wide and take a lot of juice to turn. I'm using the 17.25x8 Beila on a YS175dz and it takes all it can put out but does turn it. If you haven't purchased an engine I recommend the YS175fz sport with the 16" Biela on a 60 size Stang... Its an awesome combo and a few oz lighter than the DZ. Close to the Saito in weight too.

Aerotech Top Flite Canopy
Does anyone know what the status is regarding the Aerotech canopy and sliding canopy kits? Who has the tooling? Any chance they'll come back on the market?
They were so much better than the stock canopy.

I was interested in Aerotech parts and the week after they sold out discovered they were no more while trying to order what I needed. Through a couple threads, I found that an individual bought the remnants of the company for himself with no intentions of reproducing. I hope I am wrong. Maybe someone else has more info on the subject? When I called I asked who bought them out and was not offered any information.
