I had one of the H-9, 150-size P-47's. Properly balanced, it needed about 1/4" down elevator for level flight. Clearly the incidence was off. I flew it for 10 years then sold it. It's still flying. 3/32nd of an inch is nothing to worry about.

Where are all the Zero fliers!?

Finally have several flights on mine, I do notice a tendency to ground loop if you don't 3 point the landing. Anyone have any advice about this tendency with this plane?

Bad day for video, but it's the day the camera and a person that could handle it showed up.

Check your wheel toe in. They should be slightly like 1-3 degrees toed in. Mine rolls out straight wheel or three point. Don

I thought you did a good job with your video! Ground loops are a risk with all taildraggers, but in my experience, a little toe-in helps with the issue. Some will argue to the contrary, of course. I always go for 2-point landings as the higher airspeed over the vertical stabilizer is strongest that way.

Good job on your model in any case.

Have about 85 flights on mine.It flies great. I think paved surface does makes for more ground loops,it handles well on grass.Just my experience.

[QUOTE=dionysusbacchus;12275681]Where are all the Zero fliers!?

Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it. Your Zero looks great. Where are all the Zero fliers? Well, this one is saving up for a replacement.

You'll probably see less and less posts on this forum in the future. My local stockist (who I hope to buy my replacement from) has recently communicated with Hobbico and they have sais they are not going to be producing the Giant Zero, P-47 and whatever else anymore.

Such a shame, I don't know the reasons, I can only surmise that there isn't enough profit in making reasonable quality large scale warbirds. Hard to believe!!

They would tell that to a hobby shop on the other side of the world?

Make of it as you will. The dealer I communicated with is a stockist of Topflite models, the only one I know of in this country. I have no reason to doubt his word, he is in direct contact with Hobbico. Maybe someone in the U.S can refute this?

It would be great if the information was false.

Great Planes is the parent company of Top Flite. They just came out with the Razorback P-47 so I don't think they would be shutting anything down. Tower has all of the giant scale Top Flite models in stock. Don

We'll see then. I hope it is as you say. What I do know is that Topflite have discontinued the smaller range of warbirds. EG: the .60 size corsair.

You say they've discontinued the smaller range of warbirds....the Corsair. Yet the P-51, P-47 and the AT-6 is still available is that size range.

Yeah, see what you mean. It does seem it's only the corsair they've discontinued in the smaller size.

As for the rest, we'll see.

One thing that is apparent in our beloved hobby; things will change. Whatever is available now will someday be gone. So if you see something you like, buy it! If you really like it, buy a spare as well.

SO TRUE !!!

I have three kits (and/or engines) of things that are great. Especially some of my older Control Line and F3A stuff from the 80's.

Anyway my ZERO is finally finished (except for some decals and weathering, which is still work in progress).

Here are the details:

Saito FG-60R3 (standard - no modifications, just some extra precautions with my 40+ years of RC experience)
Fiala 21x10 three-blade prop
JETI DC-24
Duralite Gemini (original)
PowerBox Spark 7.4V
Standard Robart Retracts (pneumatic)
1/5th Scale Japanese Pilot from Warbird Pilots (had to cut off his parachute seat pack)
Total Weight 27 lbs (no additional weight at all)
CG is 175mm (and elevator is neutral, inverted requires little down elevator input, landing are so sweet and nicely balanced)

I fought the balance and you have yours about where I ended up. My elevator is a little down for level flight.

Thanks George, plus kit manufactures tend to suggest CG on the forward limits (for obvious reasons), but this never suits my flying style and setup.

Here is a link to one of my Zero flights, video is not great but the sound is excellent.

Darryl,

I know what you mean. I've got a lot of old stuff that I'm now getting rid of. Oldest is a Sterling Ringmaster, S-1 kit. The price from the old hobby shop is $3.95. I'm going to ask for a little bit more.....

(Lifer), I still fly Control Line so if you want a buyer for the Ringmaster Kit, then please let me know.

Here are some additional photos of my ZERO (baffling, and stock exhaust stacks).
