Eric I'm passing on your input to our web page person, I too thought it had to read but I didn't want to admit that it could be my eye site too

Yep, need to change the background. I have good eyes, and I was starting to get a headache. Especially if you like to play with the scroll button on your mouse like I do. Awesome stuff though, makes me want to go buy something just to have you plate it!

RE: Metal-Morphing a Yellow P-38
Wow I just noticed a count of over 13000 hits on this post, I had no idea so many would be interested in our process, I also have had alot of calls about detailing our seamless metal after its application. The details we talked about were graining and weathering. I will post some pictures of the metal grained and I'm working on our new metal (Titanium) I will show some great shots of that metal and how we replicated the heat transfer that you would see on a F100 tail cone area.

Yep, its going to be at the WRAM show, Joe is going to help us get it set up for display only. Hope to put some faces with some of the names that I have talked to on this site.
See you there

Here is a link to a perfect candidate for your process. The Howard Hughes H-1 Racer would look gorgeous using your process. This site is in German but you can see how nice this plane is going to be when finished.

Alan the H-1 is a beautiful plane and your right its a perfect candidate for our process, but there is another plane that is just as beautiful and has to me, some of the most gorgeous lines and curves (hope my wife doesn't read this) Its the Northrop Gamma, I started the build about 3 weeks ago and I have posted some pictures of it on the site I posted below, take a look. I will be updating the pictures today but still have a LONG way to go. Its will be a 96 inch wing span and will be all glass with our SEAMLESS
ALUMINUM PLATING just like the P-38. I plan on adding all the panel lines and rivet details like the 38.

I am curious about something that has floated around the edges of your product discussion ever since it was introduced...
Have you had anyone from the Scale Contest Board make a definitive determination as to how your coating would be considered in a scale contest?
Not being trite, I and hundreds of others are interested in this answer. Your process is awsome if an airframe surface is prepared pefectly. I understand the process of a flow coat application to the surface then clean water is applied to purge it, then the metal borne liquid is applied to the surface. That is if it is applied like the modern chrome coatings are applied to literally any surface.

How durable is a plane covered by Flite metal. Are these planes just for scale competition or is the covering durable enough for your weekend club flying. Those flite metal wrinkle in hot sun and due to hand pressure?

RE: I am not worthy!
We shouldn't step on this thread discussing FM. No it doesn't wrinkle in the hot sun. If a discussion is desired beyond this...contact us directly or through a PM.

RE: I am not worthy!
Ed we talked to the officials at the WRAM show and they told us that our product falls into the same category as someone buying a fiberglass jet kit, building it and competing with it. We are a service just like the kit manufacture, its also progress. Like I stated in the previous post, my goal is to make our aluminum process available to the modelers not only for his or her custom built aircraft but making a process that they can get on the kit at the manufactures. Not to fear though, we still have a lot of issues to overcome, like how to assemable the kit after the aluminum is applied and to what stage do we allow the plane to be before its assembled.
Harigo like Ed from Flite Metal stated the surface has to be prepared properly but our aluminum is not soft, it very hard. We did a demo at WRAM, we took two pieces of pvc plastic pipe that we had our plating applied to and banged them together, it left no marks or scratchs of any kind ( any spectators that were there can chime in any time ) But I also agree with Ed in that Flite-Metal is a do-it your-self product, and if applied correct you get a very nice finish.

I would like to see your process included with appropriate fiber glass components. If it is a flash process, rather than the flow coat and etch process, that could be what everyone's been looking for. Nothing is perfect, however, I believe you are getting close ;^)
My question was relative to an official written decision from the AMA Scale Contest Board. That is the "only" committee that matters as it is their decision that everyone grandfathers into their guidelines and rules.
You're process looks great!

Connery sorry its taken so long to get back to on this, I have been working on a BVM jet and between that, the Gamma and our other projects I haven't gotten around to this post. Once the Gamma is finished I am going to get a REAL photographer in here and get some good professional pictures, I will post them as soon as we get them. Here is the hyper link that has the Sabre we finish, any input is welcome. I'm attaching a sneek peek of the F-86

Oooopps Sorry firefly, We have them I just haven't got a chance to get them posted. We are in the middle of a VERY large and GOTA go project and it will be finished this Sunday and as soon as I catch my breath I will get them up for you. I am very pleased that you enjoyed the story on the lighting, I know that it got a little long winded and hope the finial pictures meet everyones expectations. In the meantime I have attached a picture that might hold you over until then
Ron Randall
PS
I have been asked by a flying club in Danbury Ct. to do a presentation with and on the lightning and Gamma, I will post the date, place and time when I have more info.
