Peter,
I converted a scale drawing to get the centerline (measured from the wing root). The center line of pylon is 20 11/16" from wing root and 7/16" in front of the panel line (near leading edge).

That looks awesome chisep51.
Well I decided in order to not touch the clearcoat,[8D] I put it in my trailer. Just slid it in, so it will have ample time to cure so I dont touch it. Hard to resist the temptation, so I will leave in here here for a while.

I was a bit surprised to see that myself, but also because I didn't think a DLE 55 was enough to fly a CompARF Mustang.

His plane was really light and it flew well with the DLE 55.
It was a surprise for me too.... But I'm looking for a bigger engine on mine.
I was expecting to see Ralf Rosen's engine (RR-258) but it wasn't there.
Matt Lupri's P-51 was there too. Really nice P-51.

I think it is 1/4.4, it is a Composite ARF.
Should be able to google them. It is an ARF, however still tons of work that is needed to finish it.
The tread is awsome. Lots of pages to scroll through and get ideas on how to do things. It was a great help as the instructions were not the greatest.
Next week I will put it together to have a look, and will take a few pics in the back yard [8D]
Spent the last couple of days going over my Corsair for the new flying season.

Thanks Chad.
I just wanted to make sure the clearcoat was completely cured. It was hard not to put it together and wait so long.
Well its off to the basement for more work, think I will make a coffee, sit outside and just look at it for a while. I am pretty happy with it, few minor things to correct for my next project.

Absolutely stunning craig-is she going to stay as "restored" condition, or is she going to get some weathering? also How bout a cockpit and pilot? What are your plans?

I think currently it will remain as a restored P-51. After normal flight, wear and tear, dirt etc, it should weather up nicely.
Still not decided on engine, so that is still yet to come.
Cockpit is almost complete, have not installed it as of yet.

Nice looking bird , but looking@ your cockpit pictures the one showing the left quadrant the part that will have the trim tab controls add to it is from a P-51 B model the correct platform for those controls is flat on top not rounded like what you pesently have mounted. I am not trying to be critical but more accurate.

Hello
to all of you how is already flying with your carf p.51, do any one have any problems with flutter in the elevator, or has any one of you balanced the elevators in the ballance tab?
Kind regards
Jan, Denmark

RE: FiberClassics P-51 now Comp-ARF P-51
Jan, I have not had a flutter problem with mine and did not add weight to the tabs on the ele.; however, I did not use hinge pins, was concerned with weight/speed of plane and possable flexing of hinge points (even using alum/brass rods for extensions and strength. I made hard points with wire inserted full length of control surface. Incidentally, I posted pic on this thread about year ago and the current Comp Arf p51 kits as well as jet kits are now using the same system. I have balanced the ele/rudder on my new bird, figured it couldn't hurt. The other possible cause of flutter is to insure you lock the servo mount to both the top and bottom of the horiz. stabs as well as wing survo mounts. Doesn't take much give in in the control mount to start flutter.

Hi Edhamp,
It has been a while that we worked on the Mustang,it's time that we move up a little bit...
On page 53 Isee that you use the same canopy rails as Imade, but can you tell me how exactly you fixed them on the fuselage ?
Thanks for your feedback,
Regards from Belgium,
