hey Bob, always glad to offer a few jocularities here and there!

I'm keen to try that new 3m tape but no one in oz sells it or has even heard of it so will have to do a searach over your side of the pond. You know of any places over there that carry it?

I've also got a MKXII 90" span and a G38 in nose, have never flown it. It needs a few things done to it and is next cab in the rank after the 47.

The MkXII was just a MK V with a early RR Griffon single stage engine fitted, typically they also had the wingtips cut off to improve low altitude roll rate. Not an overly successful varient by all accounts.

ORIGINAL: Peter_OZ

yes Bob, most definitely part of oz 101

it means a person who seeks his pleasure through the use of his hands

i.e to wank [:-]

we use it as a general term to describe idiots or people who annoy us in general

somebody cuts you off in traffic we refer to them as a bloody wanker!!!
Yeah, poor old Wayne Kerr really copped it at school, but then Michael Hunt took some of the heat for him.....

Looking good there Pete. Might make it for the 4th anniversary of the thread? Looking at your rudder hinge covers - look identical to mine. Unless they're rivetted in, I'd make a spare set and paint them while you're painting the fin. That way when you lose one, as I seem to make a habit of..[:@]..you can just stick your nice prepainted spare on.

Cheers,

Cam

p.s. Next "proper" warbird build down here has been delayed by a set of Glennis wheels I ordered around new year's day - he asures me the second pair ARE in transit.......[]

yeah and dont forget the other one debbie roots! Was a girl in the RAAF by that name, diddnt she cop some, oh apprantly that too!

Y eah I have a few strips of CF left so might make a couple as you suggest, might even lock in with some pins too

That is along time for a set of wheels, while they are nice the prices he wants are astronomical.

Let me know how heavy they are when you get them.
cheers

I spent most of the day marking out panel lines and then correcting for "best fit" given the scale limitations of the kit. Pretty happy with it so far, got one side of the fuz and the bottom done, about 25% through other side. Once done I will attack the stabs, elevators and then the wing.

Pics show the progress, note the pic showing the marking out of the datum using a string and then the actual dtum line drawn on. this also happens to be one of the panel lines that rund full length of the fuz.

Pic showing all my reference drawings and 3 views, man what a mess!

cheers

Looks good Peter. It took me several hours to get the panel lines just right. But well worth the effort in the end. Brings the plane to life.

Ok Guys

I finaly got the silver on the under side of the wing, control surfaces and the fuss, but have not figured out how to get a pic to show off the good and the bad, Ya it is latex, first time to paint a bird with any thing but Randolf dope so it is a real learning thing.

will be using Nelsonhobby's water base paints for the cameo and all the rest, and I will need to be led by the hand with the weathering and how to make the exhaust bleed stacks look like they are real.

Will try to post pic after we get back form a bit of a holiday

Bob T

PS Pete I still think the house plan is great even with out some new little buggert ( curtin climers)

Craig,
think I have spent about 10 hours on them so far and only completed one half of fuz plus a bit on hte other, very time consuming.

cheers

bob,
enjoy your holiday mate. Nope not a chance of any more ankle biters, 2 nearly grown daughters, nearly 17 and 18 (live with their mum) plus the 6 yo boy is quite enough!!

I've done my bit for the population of this country!!

cheers

Just been panelling the B25 - short of spinning the fuz around it's axis with a fixed reference, I STILL can't get the "formers" to join up as I go around. Need a ruler that can curve in 3D somehow. Usually just stand back and eyeball stations, then join the dots...

Those Glennis wheels for the 1/6 109 turned up today: 420 g the pair, and MAAAAAAANNNNNNN are they nice!!!!!! The quality of these wheels really is outstanding - I can see why those who have them rave about them.

Yes they're heavy, but between those babies and the Sierra retracts, I'll be building the plane just to get to play with the man jewellery.

Happy panel lining,

Cam

I use a thin piece of paper about an inch wide, it will follow the curve and you can correct it to get it straight with respect to the datum

a box arrived in the mail today, it was the stencils and masks including the "hairless Joe" character for the nose from Gary at Get Stencils. Woo Hoo I thought.
Went through all the masks etc.

Problems:

I checked size of the nose emblem, “Hairless Joe†he is on the big side. Have not checked size of stars and bars and other masks. Hoping they are correct.

- Missing - Yellow crew chief & ground crew details just forward of windshield on port side only
- Missing - Kill markings below canopy port side only
- Missing - P47 Nomenclature sheets

Emailed Gary, hope he comes through and fixes the problems for me.

cheers

Hi guys

Got back a day early as our little dog (a shih-tzu mix) is the pitts to travel with .

Great to see some one is getting things done.

Pete/Cam

Have been told that for the lines, pick up one of the dual axia laser levels from your local home improvement center under 50.00 usd, when you set the bird up you can get all of the lines have not seen this demo'd
