After some much needed flying days---I'm in the final steps of completing surface detail on this Giant Scale Top Flite P-47 Thunderbolt.
It seems recent flying of my 1/7 scale version has me looking forward, to the first flight on this larger scaled bird.

Final surface details along the anti glare panel to be painted;also pictured the rudder which needs more work.
I started this project using what I had deemed a 'correct' 3-view which turned out to be questionable in detail and detail placement;oh well its sport scale..
Note picture of the vintage trainer restoration nearing completion.. the '13' fired up and started taxi tests on the active; while I was flying my ZDZ50 Extra off a sod farm in the distance.

I sprayed most of the trim using a relatively new two part epoxy named "Klass Kote," its a standard 2 part epoxy.
I scuffed the surfaces to be painted with #0000 steel wool, primed using Klass Kotes White primer, followed by several light coats of color . (It is important to leave the white primer on thus giving you a good base coat.) --> If you do not much MORE paint is required for coverage.
Klass Kote instructions come with some application notes of its working properties as written by David Platt;which are most informative.

After re-doing the anti glare strip on the nose, replacing numerous panels, its getting together quickly now, as I apply decals and then fabricate the oil cover shutter and excess exhaust gas gate and a few more details . [sm=confused.gif][8D]

Richard,
My compliments on your fantastic achievement. However, do your cowl flaps work? I am flite metaling my Ziroli B-25J and have just about completed the fuse. I plan to make my cowl flaps work by connecting a "Y" harness to a seperate servo that will actuate a wire operated gizmo to the cowl flaps, which will open/close with the throttle. Hey, just one more scrupulous detail. Good luck.

Richard,
Think of how an automobile oil filter wrench works and you'll get the idea. I haven't perfected it yet, but I'm bound and determined.
