SPITFIRE ACE
Anyone catch SPITFIRE ACE last night on MILITARY HISTORY channel. Started watching it myself and it looked interesting. It had lots of good footage of spitfire of course and some re-used footage of dogfighting shows, but good nonetheless.
I have recorded about 5 episodes of it and will give them another look tonight. THey will probably re-broadcast the shows in case you missed them.

Odd, I was just going to post on how happy I was to have Tivo'd two of the parts. What a fantastic documentary, from history to flying to comparitive analysis. Very, Very well done. I am painting my 1/5 model now and simply can't wait to get it done now. As close as most mortals can probably get to the guys in the film.

RE: SPITFIRE ACE
Just wanted to share this with you. My Spit is done up in the markings of the last Spit my friend flew during WWII. While researching my first Spit I was fortunate enough to become acquainted with him. He spent the war in 412 Sqdn of the RCAF. He was shot down (by ground fire), being bested in a dog fight is something that would NEVER happen to him, over France in 1944. He and his wife live in a small town in Saskatchewan.

How many shows are in the series? I watched the first three on the regular History channel on Monday, left the recorder on to catch the fourth.
I wish the Military channel would have remained just Wings.

RE: SPITFIRE ACE
that series finished about 6 months ago over here,it was superb from start to finish but the highlight for me was when caroline grace [the owner] let a ww2 vet take the controls,he hadn't forgotten a thing and probably flew it better than she did,all i did was watch in awe,us brits owe so much to men like him and a huge debt to caroline who keeps this wonderful aircraft in the air at huge expense so we will never forget[not that i ever will]the huge price many of these heroes paid, yours with a lump in his throat, steve.

RE: SPITFIRE ACE
Hello down in Lauderdale! Nice pic of the Spifire. Looks like it may be a Yellow Kit?
My home town is in Saskatchewan also, so chances are I may be close to your
friend. I just received the plans, cowl, canopy and spinner for the Brian Taylor
83 inch version. Also, will have the Pica kit on the way soon. Am looking for scale
documentation for the projects also.
Warmed up to minus 30 at this Saskatchewan place now!!
