Yellow P 47 Exhaust????
I have a YA p47 with a G62 that is only turning 5600 with a 21x12 CF prop. The bird has scale exhaust that is made out of copper pipe. This looks cool and all, but this system is robbing power. We ran the 62 straight off the muffler and she turned 7100 rpm with the same prop. I would like to know if anyone is running their exhaust out the botton of the cowl??? Which pipe are you guys using?? Photos if you got em..
Thanks
Doug

RE: Yellow P 47 Exhaust????
Hi Doug,
My Ziroli P47 has got a Flexi pipe coming off the manifold, then runs down to the bottom of the cowl. You can just see the pipe sticking out the bottom of the cowl in the first pic. The pipe is about 25mm Dia and runs great, running it on a 22-10 prop. have a look on the Bentwaters Vid and you can see it run
We will be test flying her tomorrow will let you know how we get on.
Cheers Graham

RE: Yellow P 47 Exhaust????
Are you running the exhaust out both sides in your current configuration?
I have a YA P-47 with a Brison 2.4 and a Bisson Pitts style muffler that exhausts basically right at the firewall and straight down. The pipes are clipped almost flush with the cowl and are not obvious either on the ground or in flight. The only thing that I had to do was reinforce the back edge of the cowl with some carbon fiber as the cut out left only about 3/8" of the cowl to boltto the fuselage. Maybe I could have left this section off but I felt that it added to the mounting stability and security of the cowl.
