smudger,
Great work as always. Thanks for the photos and of course great videos. Do you have any objections with me using any videos and pics on my web site? Maybe we could arrange something later where you actually make some videos for me to use exclusivly on my site.

Wing span is 120 inch and it weighs 40 lbs way too light. I think it needs another 10 lbs bolted to it to make it fly right. In still conditons it would be great but how often is it still in the UK

Nice! I have the same Moki (Mackay) 215 going in my Mackay FW 190. What size prop are you swinging? I have the fan which helps with cooling. Do you have any cooling problems?
Nice Work!

I was using a 32x18 2 balde. Just ordered a 34x12 as the engine just had too much power for this airframe and I ended up flying all the time on 1/4 to 1/2 power. I want to wind the engine up a bit and get some prop noise.
As for cooling. No problems at all but I did make sure to open up my cowl to get the air out. I dont think the problem is with air in as with a radial you will normally have that great big hole at the front so you can see your pride and joy. The problem is where does all the air go.
On the zero I had to cut all of the cowl flaps and open them up and then I still cut two 3 inch squares in the bottom of the cowl.
Another thing that might help but is a little drastic mesure for you. I fly in England where outside temp on the ground is below zero in wind chill[]

I'm with you in terms of getting the air out. I'm looking forward to spring because there is over 36 inches of snow in Boston. Did you mount the module, the one with the two light on it, where you could see it? Or are you playing it by "feel" when you start that 215 up?

John Hi,
At first I put the module inside the fuz next to the tank. But the first module I had was a dud. So the Moki guy in the UK (Stuart McKay) Drove straight to my store with a new one (Great service) and we fitted right behind the engine so I could see it in the cowl. Having said this I do not use it each time I start it. I just choke it a few times switch the ignition on and go. Easy as that. The only problem is getting used to all those compressions.
Have you run yours yet?

Hi Ali,
Soon after Mackay sent me the engine, he sent me an e-mail saying I should build a test stand and run it. He said, "You will love the sound." So i had a friend build a huge stand and we ran the engine. What an awesome sound! Couldn't believe how realistic it was. I ran it for a total of three to four minutes and then put it away till the plane was built. I'm close to mounting the engine now. Did you reinforce the engine mount with carbion fiber, kevlar, or both? I'm using Mackay's mount and reinforced it with kevlar. Plus I plan to use more formers than Mackay recommends. Did you modify the exhaust? I may plug where the original exhaust comes out and run the exhaust scale out of the fuse. I'm going to talk to Mackay to see what he thinks. Great guy and you're right in that he has great customer service. My weight of the FW 190 should be close to 50 pounds. Still a bit light for such a big engine.

Hi John,
My mount is some good 3/4 inch birch ply aeropoxyed to two 1/2 inch ply sides then screwed through the sides. No carbon, no Kevlar. I think you can go overkill on the front end. As long as the back end is moving with it there shouldnt be that much stress. I was amazed how low the vibration was. But as always the choice is yours. Also it is always different on an all moulded model.
My muffler ring is bog standard no mods at all. I cant see what difference moving the pipes will make, but ask stuart anyway.
50 lbs is the right weight. This is what my Zero needs to be.
