RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
hi phil and all,
just a quick note to let you all know that we are now taking slots for Warbirds, Past and Present 2007.
This time we are going to host it at either RAF Coningsby, as before or at RAF Scampton, home of the Red Arrows.
Usual stuff, i.e min of A cert and insurance, all planes and helicopters must be of a military variety and in military colourscemes. Display teams colours are welcome tho.
Hopefully we can get a few more jets this time.
If last years event is anything to go by, we should have a good one. Applications for attendance to me at [email protected] and please include a pic of the models you want to fly.

HI PHIL, I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE, ABOUT THE POSSIBLE USE OF RAF COLTISHALL, ITS A BL***Y DISGRACE, FOR A PLACE LIKE THIS WITH ALL ITS HISTORY CAN END UP HOUSING OR HOLDING THE CRIMINAL ELEMENT, THAT WILL HAVE ENTERED THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY, AND TO TOP IT ALL AS TAX PAYERS WE WILL END UP PAYING FOR IT, WHEN ARE THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY GOING TO WAKE UP TO WHAT IS HAPPENING, ITS DISCUSTING IF THIS GOES AHEAD, KEEP US INFORMED PHIL,---REGARDS---MIKE

Dear All
It has taken me nearly a week to be able to post these pics of the closure of RAF Coltishall.
Last thursday had to be one of the saddest days of my life when the final curtain fell on this historic fighter station.[]
Regards Phil G.

Dear all,
What has happened to the pictures that LL took at Coltishall on Saturday? He was clicking like anything, did he forget to put some film in the camera? I was looking forward to seeing a picture of the seafury with a rear gunner!!!

OK, as you asked - here are a few shots of your seafury from Saturday, including the pilot's reaction to Phils flying!

I know that British cars tend to be smaller than their average Amercian counter parts, but a car that's small enough to fit in the radome of a Jaquar is just pushing the limit too much!! I though the Mini was little. Reminds me of a bad joke - What do you call a 4 door Yugo? A Wego!

Dear All
We have been out today the contractors who finished at Colt today asked us to put on a bit of a flying display.
Dibble decided to bring along his P47 and also his not quite finished own design Hawker Typhoon.
It has a span of 70 inches YT retracts and will be powered by a MVVs 91 two stroke glow.
Hopefully it will be finished in a colour scheme of one of the Typhoons that was based at Colt during the war.
Regards Phil G.

Dear All
I have been trying to establish which Hawker Typhoon Squadrons were based at RAF Coltishall and it's two satellite
stations RAF Matlaske (ten miles NW of Colt) and RAF Ludham (ten miles NE of Colt). This is so Dibble (Mark) can finish his very nice Typhoon in home colours so to speak
Hopefully I will find out definatively in the next couple of days.
The first Typhoon kill was on August 9th, 1942, when a Typhoon from 266 Squadron shot down a Ju-88 off the Norfolk coast.
Here are some pics to be going on with.
The first Typhoon pic shows the one flown by Sqn Ldr Dennis Crowley Milling
of 181 Sqn EL-X EK 270
Crowley Milling was a Coltishall old boy he was there with Douglas Bader in 1940 with 242 Sqn.
US-L R7679 is a 56 Sqn machine

Dear All
Here are the five squadrons that were based at Colt/Matlaske/Ludham
56 Sqn code US, 195 Sqn JE, 245 Sqn MR, 609 Sqn PR, 266 Sqn UO.
Mark is finishing his model as a 56 Sqn machine US-L .
complete with white nose.
The nicest colour scheme to my eyes is upper surface drab olive and ocean grey
lower surface medium sea grey with a sky fus band.
Regards Phil G.

Hi all,
Here's a couple of pictures from yesterday at Coltishall, including Peter's nearly finished Ziroli P38 which was there so that it could be assembled and have the linkages and radio gear checked.
Mark.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear Mark
Thanks for the pics.
Just a quick update on the Coltishall Ziroli P38.
The P38 is nearing completion it was at the field yesterday for setting up purposes
it weighed in at a hefty 43lbs unpainted and unbalanced.
I have seen on other websites that they fly OK at this weight as long as both the engine keep running. The P38 is owned and built by Peter Reed and has been two years in the making I have the privilege of flying it. The P38 is powered by 2 x Fuji 50's.
The model will be finished as Putt Putt Maru, we are very pleased to have a P38 Lightning to complement the EE Lightning that we already have at Colt.
Regards Phil G.

Dear Ed
The Zero is the small one it has a laser 70 for power.
I think it is standard out of the box with supplied retracts etc, it really does look and fly nice.

Dear Dave
We are still hanging in at Colt.
We have a licence to fly there until the end of april.
We will obviously try and extent that if possible.
If there is any chance of holding a Battle of Britain event this year I will post it on here.
Are you going to the Scampton bash on the Easter weekend looks as if it will be good.
Regards Phil G.
