RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
I should be able by the end of the week to announce two scale/warbird/jet events.
One will be at a former USAAF World War Two Station (Liberators) and will be a salute to the USAAF.
The other will be at a former RAF Station (not Coltishall) and will be a salute to the RAF.
So to say I am pleased would be an understatement.
Regards Phil G.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear Graham
All in good time laddy.
We had Peter Reid's P38 out on Saturday to complete the remaining two test flights.
Unfortunately one of the hatches departed in flight, so the flight had to be curtailed.
The P38 really does fly well, we have suggested to Peter how to fix this problem plus add more strength to the booms.
Your repairs are holding up very well by the way.
So Graham as soon as I know for sure the dates etc for these events you will be the first to know.
Both sites are excellent.
One site has the choice of three runways and the other site has two.
Regards Phil G.

Hi Phil,
Sounds good, are we talking sooner rather than later on in the year for the meetings.
I'm glad Peters P38 is holding out, I have just a few running repairs to do on my one and she will be ready to ROCK!!!
"Annie Mo" is nearly ready for testing, just got to get Mr Bones over for another inspection and then the fun begins!!!!
Cheers Graham B.

Your assumptions are correct ) I didn't put the build on the forum, however there are several links on this forum to the build.
I do need to get back to the web site and update it with my building, and here's another one for those that will surely ask now

Oh I have shot myself in the foot haven’t I!
I will start as soon as I get my orders out of the way, which will be a few weeks at current rates! There are plenty of new models coming into the world this year even though the bankers have done their very best to ruin the country.
Nigel
PS I did say Bankers by the way!

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
haha yes you did.
well im going the cheap way around it im buyin frome pars list, and exluding things like accessory bag and pilot and so forth my order will then come to only £115, yeah im being cheap but like you noted on the quality of the stuff iv excluded isnt very great, so the money i save can go on a nice set of oleos and retracts. which to me makes allot of sense.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
NMAC Salute to the 445th Bomb Group Friday the 15th of May
Dear All
Due to the building work that is going on at Coltishall at the moment, we have moved our spring
event to Tibenham Airfield Norfolk NR16 1NT. Tibenham was the wartime home to the 445Th Bomb Group which operated Liberators.
One raid that the 445Th took part in, is notable for it's losses. Forty three Liberators took off from Tibenham of which only three
returned safely to Tibenham. That puts in to perspective the price that was paid for our freedom today.
Tibenhams most famous son was the actor James Stewart
The airfield is now owned and operated by the Norfolk Gliding Club.
The event will be run as it usually is at Coltishall a one minute silence will be held at 12 O'clock midday as always.
The event is open to any scale model or any jet (excluding Pitts Specials, Extras, caps etc).
flying until 1800 at least.
The event is not open to the general public
Proof of insurance on the day will be required
Camping and caravan parking will be permitted on Thursday and Friday evenings.
Why not stay over and try your hand at gliding in one of the NGC's modern Gliders.
A private company provides the catering at Tibenham, rolls tea and coffee etc will be available in the club house
at lunch time, evening meals can also be provided. If we could have a show of hands on this one so I can give the catering company
a rough idea of what will be required on the day.
Obviously this is a private airfield so we are going to have to pay for the use of.
Having said that, Tibenham is a fantastic historic site with three (in different directions) smooth long run runways.
Tibenham is 16 miles to the south west of Norwich, it is just off the Norwich to Ipswich road.
The Tibenham Ball will be held in the club house in the evening.
Many fine ales are on tap.
So here is what we believe to be a fair price.
Pilots £6
Helpers £2
All monies will go to the Norfolk Gliding Club.
Regards Phil Goff

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
Hopefully this weekend will be the one when we finally knock off the last two test flights of Peter Reid's P38 Lightning.
We were out last Sunday with one of our members BH P40C, I must admit the P40 flies beautifully.
Hopefully we might have some pictures of the P40 in flight.
Graham B.
Where are you, you hounded me regarding a scale/warbird/jet meet..
I might need your advice please if you don't mind, I am going to attempt a cockpit for the Jaguar, it looks a daunting task to say the least.
Regards Phil G.

Hi Phil,
Yes sorry I have not jumped straight on,I'm just sorting out my dates with work,Fridays I'm normally tied up with the work!! but it is looking ok, I think JC might want to come down for this one to.
Annie mo should be flying by then.
Yes doing any jet Cockpit is hard to get right, as long as you have enough reference with plenty of pics I'm sure you will get her sorted out, give me a phone if you get stuck
The main ingredient you will need is plenty of plastic card!!!
Cheers Graham B.

Dear All
We have been out again today with Peter Reid's ZP38, we managed to get another flight in and the hatches stayed on.
Unfortunately one of the cowls had come lose so we could not get the sixth and final test flight in.
Hopefully the P38 will be fully sorted the next time out.
Happy flying to you all.
Regards Phil G.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
I just recently finished up my VQ Mig-3 ARF. The Mig-3 was a WWII Russian fighter plane. I have a Tower Hobbies .46 for an engine. I still have to add a few finishing decals, & put on a different fitting spinner. This plane has yet to be maidened. I wanna get some more flights under my belt,(considering the flying season just started for us up in WI) & have a more experienced pilot in the club take er up & trim er out. I do have a build thread going in the forum - "VQ Mig-3 ARF" if you wanna check it out. Very nice Lightning by the way, nmacwarbirds [sm=thumbup.gif]

Dear TF96
Your Mig 3 looks very nice, I am sure it will fly fine.
I will take a look at your thread.
I am entrusted to fly the P38 I don't actually own it.
You have just got to love those warbirds.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
Sepecat Jaguar
Clive and I are working feverishly on the Jaguar to have it ready for the Scampton event or Barkston failing that Tibenham .
The top of the wing panel lines and rivet detail has now been completed (see pictures below).
Next up is the fuselage panels, panel lines and rivet detail, that would then leave an ejector seat and an instruments panel to make plus install a suitable Pilot. The paint scheme has not been decided on yet but I have in mind a composite scheme of two different anniversary aircraft.
What ever scheme the Jaguar is finished in, it will have 'Spirit of Coltishall' on either side of the nose,
we gave our word to SoCa that we would do that.
The Jaguar has flown three times in grey and white primer.
Regards Phil G.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
Just to make it clear, all the runways at Tibenham are tarmac.
There was some confusion in our club as some members thought it was grass.
Work continues on the Jaguar to get it ready for it's new and unique paint scheme.
The nose leg is being reduced in length by 10mm as we speak by dibble.
This will lower the angle of attack when sitting on the ground by 2.7 degrees.
We are doing this because the Jaguar wanted to leap into the air like a salmon
after about a five feet run on take off.
One of our good friends from Ripmax and the corsair club should be attending
with the new ASM Lanc and B17, that will be very nice to see.
