I found a couple more of my T-bolt so I thought I'd share them with you.

These are a good indication of the size of the Meister Bolt as I am 6'2.....

This model is now in it's 5th season but I believe there are another 4 or 5 being built in the UK for the show circuit so I hope to get some company this year.

Ken Bones is my usual wing man who owns the Corsair pictured landing.

Dear Gregg
That Thunderbolt of yours is huge, no wonder it looks so impressive in the air.
The picture of ken's Corsair landing, was taken last year at our Bob at Colt.
ken and his mate Steve came down for the day, both good fliers and very nice people.

Regards Phil G.

PS They both have agreed to come down for our May the first weekend do,
and hopefully the Bob in September.

Phil

Steve was the original builder of my thunderbolt. However I pretty much reduced it to kit form and re-built it when I goty it. I just wanted it more scale like like. Steve only did it originally for club flying.

Ken and I have flown together for years. The Corsair and T-bolt are very evenly matched. You must have seen them both together at a show somewhere in the last 4 years?

Dear Gregg
I am pretty sure I have seen you and ken at Rougham and up at Barkston Heath plus other places.
Here is a nice pic of kens Corsair in flight with plenty of bank on and Ali's Spit in the foreground
I think it is the one he is now putting a wren turbo prop in.

For me not to be on his wing it must have been the slot straight after the B-52 went in. Gordon was on my number so I couldn't get the peg. Ken and I were supposed to do our double act routine!!!

Yeah looks like the Spit Ali's doing with a wren. Can't wait to see that!

In that case where was that shot taken??

It looks like Barkston but you say you weren't there.

Ken's corsair has only had one season. He did have another one a few years ago but that one was all dark blue.

So thats either,

a - Not Ken
or
b - Not Barkston

Phil,

Thanks for the prices, Is that per side or is that each individual stack ? When I say individual I mean the MkI would have a total of 6 and the later a total of 12.

Two of my Hangar. The P40 is a VQ and I only recently discovered that the markings, which I already knew to be 112 Sqdn, western Desert, was also the personal aircarft of Neville Duke, of Hawkwer Hunter fame. The retracts are Robary 615's ( I know all about the complaints, but these have been fine) Robart struts and wheels. Power Magnum 91FS. The (Late) Hurricane is the KMP, usual 17 Sqdn markings, Robart 550 retracts, 7/16 struts and 4" wheels, power by YS 120.

Hey Bbuss like that VQ P40 looks very nice how is the performance of this model and quality of VQ
I am looking to get VQ or the new H9 P40 just released

Dear All
I know this is way off track.
I received the flight sim IL Stormovik the fogotten Battles. for Christmas.
It looks really good but I can't get it to run, I have a fairly high spec machine
latest drivers etc and it still does not work.

I have Combat Flight sim 3 it runs perfectly.
I must admit I like the first Combat Flight sim the best.
Can any body help please.

The quality is not bad and it flies real well. Very nice landing with the flaps. I am using a Magnum 91FS and by using an OS Internal exhaust manifold between the engine and the standard exhaust I can get everything inside the cowl. The cowl is reinforced with an extra layer of glass inside as it is a little light. It has Robart 615 retracts with 3/8" struts and Robart wheels using the standard wheel wells. It balances with no extra lead by installing the air tank in the rear and the battery and radio immediately in front of the air tank. The cowl is opened up at the carb air intake and also by removing the 3 center molded cowl flaps. No overheating problems. The covering is the ubiquitous "shelf paper", but it holds up well and it gives a nice finished appearance.

Dear All
Since we have had a pic of the Mossie, here is a brief description
of one of the numerous daring low level raids it took part in.
This one is not so well known. It was a raid on the Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen.
It was known as the Shell House raid.

At the request of the Danish Resistance, the Royal Air force carried out 3 spectacularly precise attacks against the Gestapos headquarters in Aarhus, Odense and Copenhagen, in 1944 and 1945. The headquarters were destroyed with all their files, and many Gestapo officers killed. As protection against these raids, the Germans had placed Danish prisoners in the buildings, but most of them survived due to the precision of the attacks. Several even managed to escape during the actions.

However, the attack at the headquarters in Copenhagen ended in a tragic disaster. Although the raid itself was a great success, one of the pathfinder planes hit a lamppost and crashed near a school. Some of the planes in the second and third wave, believing that this was the target, bombed the school, killing 123 civilians, most of them children. But the decision to bomb the Gestapo HQ was never questioned.

The picture below was taken by one of the aircraft on the raid

I will try and find some information on the walls of Jericho raid.

Dear All
Here is a short piece on the walls of Jericho raid.

During January 1944, information was received in London that over 100 loyal Frenchmen were being held in the jail at Amiens, France, awaiting execution for their efforts in the allied cause. The local Resistance requested an urgent airstrike to break open the prison walls – even at the risk of killing some of the patriots.

At 1055 hours on the 18th February, with snow falling, 19 Mosquitos took off from R.A.F. Hunsdon to execute OPERATION JERICHO and one by one they disappeared into the murky sky, hoping to meet up with their Typhoon escort over Littlehampton. Their task was to breach the 20ft. high, 3ft. thick outer wall, open the main building and destroy the guard’s quarters.

One of the R.A.F.’s most celebrated airmen was overall commander of the raid, Grp. Capt. P.C. ‘Pick’ Pickard, who was last over the prison – the exact moment captured in Gerald Coulson’s remarkable painting – just seconds before the delay fuse bombs explode. Pickard remained in the area to assess the results which were filmed by a specially equipped Film Photographic Unit Mosquito. Flt. Lt. Tony Wickham and his cameraman Plt. Off. Lee Howard flew three passes over the prison filming the results of 487 and 464 Squadrons’ attack. Prisoners could be seen making their escape through the gaping holes in the walls and running in all directions across the snow-covered fields to be spirited away by Resistance comrades who had requested the airstrike. The prearranged success signal "Hello Daddy, RED-RED-RED" was transmitted to 21 Sqn., who gratefully returned home without bombing.

Dear All
Here are some pics of Peter Reed's P40 under construction.
It is built from the Jerry Bates plans.
Model is now finished I will try and find some pics of that.
Model has had one flight, has now been reengined with a 50cc petrol engine
replacing the 35cc petrol engine. The model was very under powered.
Peter looks very happy with it.

I have also posted some information regarding the fullsize.

Regards Phil G.

The first mass-produced US single fighter, the Curtiss P-40, together with the Bell P-39, constitued
more than half the USAAF fighter strength for the first half of the war, in addition to being supplied
in considerable numbers to the Raf and other Allied Air Forces. The Curtiss P-40 was the USAAF
standard fighter when the US entered World War II in 1941. The P-40 was superb at low level, but
was ourtlassed at medium and high level due to lack of development of the Allison engine’s
supercharger. However, it acquired a justifiable reputation for ruggedness and dependability and was
the subjet of considerable development as the war progressed. The P-40 earned its fame when
Maj. Gen. Claire Chennault formed the American Volunteer Group later better known as
the Flying Tigers. This mercenary force, consisting of three P-40 squadrons, operated in China to
protect the airfields and supply lines prior to the Japanese invasion of Indochina. Outmatched by the
Japanese Zero, the P-40 relied on surprise hit-and-run tactics and despite poor support against a vastly
superior ennemy, the Flying Tigers were able to claim 286 Japanese aircraft for the loss of only eight
P-40s. Early orders for the P-40 came from the USAAF and the French Air Force but France was overrun
by the Germans before deliveries commenced. Desperate for aircraft to slow down the German military
advance, the RAF took delivery of the French P-40s which they operated as the Tomahawk. When
production was wound down in November 1944, a total of 13,783 P-40s had been built.

Dear All
I have been out this evening to our monthly club meeting. (The Norwich Model Aero Club)
When I was young I could easily do ten beers, I have had about four tonight and I am well gone.
So there has been no progress on the Spitfire tonight.

There was supposed to be a chuckie glider competition, but only one young lad turned up with one.
everybody was given a plan of the He Salamander. I had every intension of building it, but the
Lightning Spitfire and the Eurofighter got in the way. Oh well[]

Do you have club meetings like this.

Regards Phil G.
Ps. I will have a cup of coffee and se if I can sober up a bit.,

Dear S1
I think I can allow my self one night of celebration, but tomorrow I must resume my task
of having the Spitfire ready for our Battle of Britain Commemorative event on September the 4th.
If not it would be an affront to those boys who gave so much.
