devens,

I am going to build a 1/3 scale P-40 next off blown up Ziroli plans. I am ready for a flat wing. Although the B29 would be nice. Plus very expensive. Maybe a B-25 1/4 scale bomber instead. I never know from one day to the next what I'm going to really build.

Merry Christmas all!!!

Finally finished the starboard access panel.Ended up useing a piano hinge recessed on the bottom and rare earth magnets at the top corners. It closes pretty tight but might need to add another magnet in the middle for saftey sake. Will make a tool to fit in a recessed area to open.

PS Not quite to scale, but close enough for me[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

Just my thought on the hatch, just bevel the in side in the middle just enough to catch your finger nail, no tool required and you can't see it works great.

Hi guys,

Ordered my decals from [link=http://www.cal-grafx.com]www.cal-grafx.com[/link] for the Corsair. Here is the proof sheet they sent. Awesome! This is a proof they had done for another customer..I kept it the same except changed the pilot's name to Lt. Col. Ken Walsh USMC.

Mrs. Claus suprised me today with an Extreme Flight 88" Yak 54 with a DL50 and a KS Smoke canister and Sullivan smoke system swinging a 22 x 8 prop! It's not a warbird but with the Corsair it will give me something to do this summer while I'm saving for my Ziroli P38 for next year's project!

Well Sam,

The weather up here is frightful....but the airplanes are delightful in Canada too!!! Yup, it is a stock photo, the attached pic was taken while I read your post....winter is just getting started. Don't fret about your snow, ours will probably be here till early May. Myself and a fellow club member are bashing a couple of trainers, flattening out the wings, adding flaps and turning them into tail draggers with skis for some winter fun. Am scratching my head now trying to figure out the throttle linkage for the Corsair. With all that exhaust in the way, going to be a challenge. Any pics of similar installations would be appreciated.

David, actually she has two sisters, but I think I ended up with the one that would me let out of the house more than the others!

Mike, great job on the access hatches!

Chris,

Oh well, my wife would probably have objected to the idea anyway. That looks like a great plane you got there and though it's no warbird I'm betting you will like it anyway. Mrs. Claus was very nice to you all the same, maybe she'll give my wife lessons!

Hey Mike, I used them on my Mustang/G-62. Wasn't pleased with them at all. I finally get them right after I modified them. The plastic bellcranks would flex and made the thottle and choke inaccurite(sp?).

Chris
heres what i did . i still may go back and add a brass tube over the rod in the center with some arms to actavate the choke by a small servo and make it lighter

[:@]at least you guys don't have to fight currency exchange rates. I need a set of Sierra retracts for a Vailly 96" Tempest, about $1200 all up with retracts, tail unit and wheels. Aussie $ is currently 0.68USD. That makes them about $1500 plus some shipping costs too.

NASTY!!

Port side done, moveing on to tailwheel doors, then ready to glass I think.Should all the hanger rash be taken care of before glass? How did everybodyelse do yours?

Mike,

I took care of all of my "hanger rash" before glassing.

As for $$$$ your probably right. Especially if your spouse is near.

well not yet building the Corsair but the GS P47, however same principle applies, I took care of dings, hanger rash etc BEFORE applying glass. I used a lightweight spakfiller that is used on gyprock wall sheeting for minor repairs, it comes pre mixed in a squeeze container.. You guys should have a similar product over your side of the pond. The stuff we have sands very well and is super light weight.

Remember to get a superior finish you need to do the prep beforehand.

Hi Guys
In previous posts you all said to use 1/64 chart tape for panel lines. Is 1/64 a misprint? The smallest pinstripe tape I can find is 1/16.Thats pretty small but a whole lot bigger than 1/64.One of those awesome web sites that carries the 1/64 would be nice.As usual THANKS for your help.
