Pete
One thing I forgot to mention, The type of prop can make a difference ie: wide blade or narrow, the wide blades tend to act like a brake at low RPM's

Another reason I went with the 22x8 Xoar. The G62 only has 6 flights under her belt but I was getting a steady 1900 rpms at idle. When I pulled off the power she will slow down nicely I just need to do it at the right time

Pete that is the same props I am using, and do to more time on my engines I get a nice smooth 1800.

I tried the flight idle on my 47 two seasons back set at 2000 to 2050 and that seamed to work real well till I clipped the tassels on the corn off the end of our runway, so will be trying that again this next season.

Well it's almost that time again. Dust off the building board and get back to the corsair that has sat quietly through the summer and bow season. My super awesome girlfriend is giving me a G62 for Christmas and I'm ready to get back at it.

Merry Christmas to all! Does anyone know if the Giant ARF Fuse can be used with Kit wing? I am presently fuselage challenged due to pilot error.

well here we are a month since anyone posted, in the middle of winter and no one is building, I can remember when this thread was # 1 in RCU now I don't know where we are. I would think moderators look at these threads for activity, has anyone ever heard of a thread being shutdown due to inactivity?

Hi George

Well with the new rcu lay out and Horse S@#$t mod's I may just drop out, was planning on doing a kit build bash on a Cub to a Super cub, may do it on RCG as they seem to be a lot better group.
But every thing is on hold till I can find out what new technology there is for dealing with the MENEIERS and hearing thingy's going to see some new specialist next week. all plane things are on the back burner for now.

To All,
Over a month and no one is posting, so I guess no one is building.
Geez, I hope the mods don't shut this thread down due to inactivity, that would be a real shame,
well, hopefully someone is peeking in the background

Hi George and all

I check every day to see if there is any activity on this thread and 2others I follow, and nothing comes up

I still have to do my stars and bars, and a semi clear coat to finish my redo and then just put it back together, check it out engine run's and such and then it is ready.
Some major fam health problems so every thing is in slow motion at the present.

George

With the weather we have been having I think I am looking at about the same time frame, I need 55deg + for the Nelsons paint I am using.

Hi raff

Looks like you are coming along just fine, hurrying a Corsair build is not a good thing you have to back up to many times, but it is your build and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did mine it can make you pull your heir at times, but once you get it in the air it is well worth it

Hello raaf!
Great looking build!
It looks like you have Hangar 9 Mains & wheels, or did you paint Robart 148's?
I love the tail gear and the hook. Did you make them?

How has summer been treating you in Adelaide?
I have friends in Albury, NSW I have visited and you have such terrific flying weather!

Best,
Scott

Hi Scott thanks mate its my first kit build and having lots of fun..the mains are hanger 9 elec retracts[ robart] and the tail wheel is scratch built from a plan i got from chad, well worth the effort. This summer has been very warm and still is 39/40c this coming week, must be getting old.
For the most part of the year the weather is good for flying. Our flying fields are pretty good.

Hey guys, Just checking in after a long (almost a year) layoff from working on the Corsair. I'm about to start the dreaded flaps. I've been searching this thread and others but can't find what I'm looking for. I remember a post about the width of each flap section not being very scale. Something about the middle one has more of a curve to match the wing shape. I can't find it, in fact I can't find any of the good posts about making the flaps work.
I want to use a plywood tab instead of the wire to actuate. I know some guys have gone with an external control horn instead of the internal.
If anybody has some posts bookmarked from this thread or any others I would appreciate it.
thanks
Steve

Hi All-

I sure hope I can get a little help. After several false starts I am ready to begin my Corsair build. My first question, after reading much (but not all) of this thread:

Are there any obvious errors or misleading instructions in the TF manual for this plane?

I would appreciate if anyone could point them out or point me to a place in this thread where I can read about them.

Thanks much-

Larry
