If you are looking for the most bang for the buck, I would recomend the Thunder Tiger .46 Pro. Do not install a .61 in a .40 size airplane unless you are flying at a high altitude. you will pull the fire wall out and the plane will both tourque and P factor you to death.

do i need a pitts muffler?, also, any tips on flying warbirds as well as maintaining and other tips for nitro as this is my first nitro powered plane. and will the pitts muffler give it any more power and maybe make it sound a little bit more like a warbird?

If you are going for sound, then go for a four cycle motor.
The 2cycle will work fine, but yes, you'll need an in-cowl muffler. Try slimline, they should have what your looking for on your 2 cycles.
Get as much speed as you can before you pull the airplane off the ground, use lots of runway. And do not fly it as you can most sport airplanes. Warbirds can be tricky at times, and putting them into spins, snaps, etc. can put them right into the ground (I speak from previous experience!
).
Typical aerobatics for warbirds (loops, rolls, immelmans{sp?}, etc) are just fine, as well as just plain hauling *****.
I'm not certain if the muffler gives the engine more power or not. It may be determined by the engine. It does seem to me, however, that I've seen a slight increase in performance, and reliability, with them.

Hello skater, don't debate it, sell me the plane; honestly I will buy if off you. btw I use a K&B 61 Gold head with pitts muffler. My buddy uses an OS61fx. Forget the 46fx; we fly the fw-190 all the time.

well, i went to the hobbyshop today and i think i got everything i need, (they didnt have a pitts muffler in tho) , i got two props, after run oil, fuel pump, gallon of 10% fuel, glo starter and charger, spinner, and thats it, and i ordered the g-51, tachometer, 3' of fuel tubing, fuel filters, and a few other little thing, and the fuel tank came with the plane, so does that sound like everything i'll need to get the engine runnin. and i had one questian with the fuel, i got the omega fuel and on the back it says not to use afterrun oil, but i had the guy at the hobbyshop help me pick out everything and he told me to use it. so should i or not?

In 30 years of flying, I have never ever used after run oil, 2-stroke or 4-stroke; my engines always run perfect; just make sure you run your engines dry after each day of flying. Residual fuel is a killer.

Skater, You got it right. Turn over till it won't start a couple of times. For me, it is another blessing. I take the models through by garage, into the house over my beautiful carpet and into the basement. Helps, when no fuel or oil is dripping through; I knew I should have built an outside entrance to my basement, too late now. PineBaron

well i got the g-51 set up and i am having problems keeping it running, it will start up, run a little rough then just stop, i can only get it to run for about 10 seconds at a time, i am only using a safety stick to start but i dont think thats the problem since it runs for a few seconds. it kind of seems like the fuel isnt getting to the engine. thanks

Are you keeping the plug warmer on?
Fire it up rich, then let it run with the warmer on for a half-3/4 tank of fuel, then lean it out a little and see if it will run without the warmer on. Lean it out enough to run without the warmer on and run another tank through it-keeping it rich (Between each run, let the engine cool completely.). After that you should be able to lean it out just enough to fly it. Make sure it transitions smoothly from low to high-end-adjust accordingly as needed, if needed.
Super Tigre loves to run with slightly higher RPMs. Run a prop that will let it run up to 10-12,000 RPMs.
Mine ran perfectly using this proceedure.
Always run this engine on the rich side. When it's running right, you'll see a trail (of oil) coming out of the exhaust that looks almost as cool as smoke!
There are some great posts on this motor in the engine forums.
Hope I helped.
