Hey David,
Will the new release come with a retractable tailwheel? or at least be easier to put on in? was it designed with the ability to add one with little trouble?
I am currently struggling with trying to retro-fit a retractable tailwheel unit in mine...

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9
Greetings chaps, from a sort of sunny UK.
This thread was my inspiration for getting one of these Jugs and to 'pimp' it, so I thought I woudl show you how mine is coming along.
Last night at a local club meet, she got up on her legs for the first time, and it was GREAT to see! The replacement scale Century u/c and 4.5" wheels along with the resin dummy radial have made (I think you'll agree!) a significant difference and whilst she is still quite a way off in terms of airframe jobs to do and a complete change in colour scheme coming, you can see that she is certainly strating to take shape.
Anyhoo....here you go...

Hey guys, I maidened my Jug today after having her sit for over a year! Awesome flying plane, Could use a bit more power (I have the 26) but once on step it was nice. I greased the first 2 landings on the 3rd I caught a rut, just bent the strut at the threads up top and broke the scissor. Im gonna try a JB weld job tonight as the damage is really negligible but was wondering what the consensus is on aftermarket gear, Is there anything available to just drop in?
Thanks! Pete

Yes! I went with the Sierra Precision air retracts. They drop right in and all that you have to do is plumb in the air system. Paul you have some guts man! I don't think I would have the courage to bring my p-47 in up side down three feet off the deck. My hat is off to you man! [X(]

If you want to fit your own, "little trouble" is subjective!

I fly it low and fast but the credit for the inverted low passes have to go to my son, who can fly the crap out of anything.
My only rule is "you break it you buy it" makes him keep a little in reserve.
A truely awesome plane, I love it.

Hi Lifer.
I bought the Saito radial 3 cyl engine, but found that the p 47 needs more power than that, engine can deliver. It only has about 28cc.
I am now buielding it in to the Super Sterman, and that looks like the "real ting" It is like its ment for that airplane!
I vill load som pic. as soon as possible.
Tomas.

Actually, I was trying to reach the Tomas that lives in Texas that runs a retail sales operation. He had added to this thread some time back about his purchase of the SPE 40cc for this airplane in particular.
He runs VQ Warbirds and is one of the most honorable men I've done business with in my life. I reccomend doing business with him!

They are basically a set for the Yellow P47 that have been fiddled with. There is a company here in the UK that sells Century stuff and they fiddled for me so that i could slap 'em in. If you are interested, send an email to phil at www.fighteraces.co.uk
They are brutally chunky! and look spot on (as well as the ability to absorb the shock of my 'arrivals'!)
Good luck

Guys I could use a little help here. For some reason today the jug was real squirly on aileron. It seemed like it wanted to roll over on its back alot. After about 2-3 minutes it got a little better. I was definately scared. I have my CG right on at 6 1/8" Saito 180 under the hood. This plane did not exibit these charicteristics with the zenoah but it is balanced the same maybe a tad bit more nose heavy (as the zenoah fit out was a tad tail heavy).
Thanks so much! Pete
