RE: New 81
I had my maiden with my P-47 150 last week. I am hopeing to get some video up in the next day or two. Going to video more tomorrow. Awesome flying plane. Had a little trouble getting used to the flaps, but tomorrow and going to keep a little more throttle in her while using the flaps. I encourage you guys to look at your axles for your wheels. The axle that runs through the wheel and into the strut is hard plastic JUNK. One of mine broke with a marginal landing. For about 6 bucks, I bought a set of axles that you can buy for fixed landing gear planes and dremeled the threads off and replaced both sides. Now I have metal (steel) axles that will hold up. Check it out on your planes when you get a chance. Hope to get some vids up soon.

Hello guys
I just wanted to tell you all about my system for runing a seperate 4.8volt battery pack to only operate the mechanical JR 791 retract servos in the P-47. This system is apart from the rest of the servos that operate at 6 volts so that I can gain the most torque out of them.
Hope you like it.
Regards, Jim Stratton

RE: New 81
I use two a123 RX packs isolated with a diode each; the gear servos are connected to one only, also with a diode.
In case of gear fealure, one pack only is impacted.
The RX is powered by both packs.
Both gear servos are driven thru a MSA-10 that provides separate power connexion.
Btw, both flaps servos are driven thru an external box that provides speed reduction and inversion.
And both elevator are driven by a Futaba box that provides inversion too.
Ailerons are assisted with a gyroscope, may be rudder too if usefull.
Power train is a Cyclon 160 with CC HV-110 and 12s2p a123.

What are you all using to balance your plane. I just tried to balance mine and had a Boo Boo!! I measured and marked back 6 & 1/8" from the leading edge next to the fuselage and then set my plane upside down on my home made balance system and the weight of the plane resting on my balancer started to mash in on the balsa sheeting. It can be easily fixed with some thin CA on the weak area.
But when that's repaired, How should I balance the plane?
Here is a photo of my balancer. Please let me know what to use.
Thanks Jim

You do not have enough surface area on those pencils. That will work great for smalls planes that are not heavy. I use a great planes balancer. You need to find a way to may a disc or something that will give you a little more surface area. Once you do that your c.g machine will be fine.

Yeah! That's what I thought after I sent my post I can tape a couple od quarters to the C.G points, and try it again. thanks for your input.

RE: New 81
I would like to supercharge my P47 with the following powertrain:
- Scorpion S-5545-180KV: 4500W, 1kg
- Scorpion ESC: 130A
- 14s3p a123: 3kg
- 20*12 propeller
Any comment on that configuration ?

Hopefully someone wil chime in. I know nothing about electrics. There is a black dude on RCU video that does a lot of electrics for nitro planes and hangar 9. I think his name is flyboythat1. He also has a friend with a hangar 9 p-47 150 that has a electric in it. You may want to ask him. Hopefully this will help!

Hi Tomas, I have finally got myself a Hanger9 P47 150. Its not new but it is in good condition and has panel lines and weathering. I will be fitting a 3W 40cc motor for a little extra kick and hope to have it in the sky in a week or two.

I know H9 quit making this plane a year ago and called H9 to see if they are gonna make some more and they said no. Any of ya'lls local hobby shops have one in the box? Thanks, Paul

RE: New 81
Well I thought I was about finished. I started to think about the Hangar 9 fuel tank rubber stopper that comes with the fuel tank. Was wondering if it would desolve, so i removed it from the tank to inspect it and it seems ok but only ran 1/2 tank of fuel through it back a few weeks ago.
Also I had used the small brass fuel tubing that came with the stock and have re-thought that. So have purchased some 3/16 brass tubing to replanes the stock tubing.
My question is! Can I use the (Hangar 9 stock Black rubber stopper) with gas fuel, or will gas eat up the rubber stopper over time?
I looked today for a "gas stopper" from Sullivan and Dubro at my LHS and neither one is large enough for the H9 fuel tank.
What Rubber stopper did you guys use for your fuel tank?
Regards, Jim S.

I have a Zenoah G-38 with a Mejlik 18x10 prop in mine and Hitec HS-645MG servos. It's certainly no slouch with a G-38. I think the airframe can handle a DLE55 and will be a rocket with that motor. I've flown mine in a warbird gaggle with a couple of Topflite P-51s powered with DA50s and I was just slightly slower.

RE: New 81
Been doing a few mods to my P47, first off I have moved the elevator servos to the back of the plane. There is a convenient ply mount inside the tail wheel cover, this has had the benefit of getting rid of the long binding control rods and since I am putting a rather heavy 3W 40cc motor up-front, the weight on the back end should be negated. I have also put the rudder and tail wheel on a closed loop system which I have used on my YT/KMP P47. I will post some pics of the install tomorrow when I get time.
