I am in the process of building number 2. First one I lost after aileron flutter that resonated into the wing. The cause of the failure was due to not lock tighting the aileron linkage between the servo and aileron. I just finished repainting my fuselage. I am also going to do a 3 piece wing. The first bird was an awesome flying machine. That is what convinced me to by another one.

Jusy bought my 4th one as my 3rd one is getting pretty beat up, but still flying. I agree, it is a steady flyer ! I lost the first one to a bad battery. Second one to a midair collision. Flying my third one two seasons now. Poulan 42 powered.

Mike, there is not any drop in retracts available for this plane as of now. I used a set of old Spring Airs and reangled the mount slightly. Bent some 1/4" music wire to fit it in the wheel well. Works pretty good as a bad landing will only pull the ply layers apart. 5 minute epoxy and 30 minutes later, back in the air. Paul

I'm looking for information on the control throws for the elevator. Took a lot of weight in the nose to balance it. I was going to put my Thor 45 in it for the weight but thew power lines near Our field took care of that. Added a lot of weight to the nose to get it to balance a little down in from at 4.5 Inch's from the lead edge next to the fuselage

After all that work it would make a Great Hanger Queen. That is what they are best for, Mine has been such a PIA I'm giving up. I could have built three kits in the time it's taken to modify balance and repair this ARF. I've had the balance every where it's suggested forward, backward, I have it forward now and I did not have enough elevator to climb out. Aborted the take of and the beast is so heavy now it barfed out the retracts. Now I have to rebuild the retract hangers. I have Top Fight P-51 I could have finished in the time it has taken me to mess with this thing, Any body want it or parts Let me know.

That is that is the way to go. More Power. I may put my Old G-62 in it when I rebuild the retract plates. I could take 13 oz of dead weight out of the nose and replace it with useful power.
I drilled straight through the wing center section a put a wood dole straight through. That take a lot of stress of the center section.
Off to Warbirds over Delaware. The AT-6 is staying home were it belongs

Hey all! After a long break, I'm back onto building this plane. All of you have had great tips in this thread. I'm cramming a G-38 under the cowl with a pitts muffler. Tonight I'm trying to beef up the wing, as per your tips. I hope to have it up soon. I installed the retracts (i got from this thread) and am close to completion. I hope you all are still enjoying your Texans! Mine was a gift from a couple of awesome brothers. I'll let you know how it goes. Please let me know if you have any last-minute advice!
