Hi there,
I have been building their Hurricane, and the kits are well put together, and the instructions are clear.
Think ahead if you want a scale cockpit. Enjoyable build and sits right in the air.
For a decent pilot, check out the RCU stores
cheers

Hi there,
I know Binbrook very well...Dad stationed there with 9 squadron.
Mine is the Hurricane, so different animal, but both designs by David Boddington (DB) are well known as a realistic renditions, and they fly well. As I say, if the Hurrican building experience is anything to go by I would definately go for the Spit.
Unitract do the best undercarraige for this model, and I think DBSC sell these on their site as well.
Sorry to say I don't have any pics of the Hurricane build, other than the cockpit which I have posted here (I think!). The rudder bar, aileron , elevator and throttle controls all move, and with the pilot hanging on when they do, it looks as though he's flying the thing.
With the head turning aswell thro the aileron channel, it looks spooky!
I shall have my pilot stand at Cosford this year, and am thinking of going to the Scale Nats as a trader in August, and will have the Hurrican with me to demo my pilots.
There is a thread here somewhere under warbirds that features the DB spitfire, so have a look.
happy hunting

Ummm...you had to ask didn't you!
The actual plane build which is 80% complete took about 5 months at a leisurely weekend pace.
The cockpit and undercarriage...about 400 hrs! and still counting. That is purely down to scale detailing and working out how to get the undercarriage to pull back 23 degrees to miss the main spar whilst folding up, and allowing the doors to sit flat.
If ever there was a test of a modelers resourcefulness, that was it!
No such problem with the Spitfire I suspect, if there is , it is on a different scale.

No I picked it up at a show (think it was shuttleworth model show), but it was from the previous proprietors.
I have spoken with current owners, and they seem nice enough, so give em a call. I dont' know if they make up the kits to order, or if they have them sitting in stock, but either way I would have thought it would have been a week max once funds in their mitts.
