LDM did you use the supplied tail gear? I don't like the one that came with it. Also I'm going with different wheels these ones are 3 inch seem a little small and are fOAM [:'(].

Rich , I resessed the tail wheel strut into the fin , then added support , otherwise the wheel strut puts way to much stress on the rudder .
It should have retaining washers taking the load as opposed to the rudder taking all the load .
I dont like the assembly at all but trying to make it work , I will show pics later this evening .
I used robart wheels , I think I will replace the tail wheel as well , its alreday flat from just sitting .

Riph , did you try Kiwi aircraft images ??? It has a ton , perhaps its in there .
I am glas this is a sport scale project for me , this has been the most difficult bird to find images on close up .
Squadren signals book is discontinued , I purchase the warbird tech book buts its weak at best , so my choice has been the net .
Its tuff to get tail and fin details and rivit details ect , warbird teck does not show any of this area in detail

LDM are you looking for images of a Sea Fury in general or are you looking for something in particular ? I am going to the War Heritage museum in Mount Hope (Hamilton) Ontario this next week, Firday or Saturday to take some pictures of there Spit. I believe they have a Sea Fury there also. If you need pics of a certain feature maybe I can be of some help. Nitor sells these planes Under the name CMP. There spit is the same one I have, same squadron marking.

I have waited to being close to done to show mine off. But here is Riff Raff Race #99 about ready for decals. I will take some pictures of the landing gear and doors later. You are going to s**t when you see that.

hey Rare Bear , that looks sweet !!!!!! , Mine is done just waiting for a clear cote , I was side tracked with work and then trying to get this thing to balance , because I had to modify my wing to hold retracts (version one -first release) I ended up adding 12oz to the firewall to get her to balance .
I used the instructions from Top Flight Gold edition to balance the plane .
Please let me know how your cg comes out ,
thanks

The YS 120 had to go pretty far forward to get it to clear the mount. I only need to put the servos in the fuse, but right now it's nose heavy. Mike and Hoot should really like it. I am trying to get as many of my models displayed in the pits this year. So Far I have this, A 1/4 scale Strega, and a September Fury on the way. It looks like the Bear is a no go for this year because there is just way too much work to be done. In other full sized warbird news it looks like we will have another scoopless mustang at Reno this year. Jimmy Leewards P-51 is going boil off cooling. And September Fury has done the mod of all mods to a Sea Fury. September is going to be interesting for sure.

You should be ok , dont know if your version came with the retracts or not , mine was a major wing bash , had to cut out the fixed gear rails and rebuild the wing , looks like you alos split the flaps like me .
I should be able to maiden by mid june , to busy with work to get this thing trimmed , taped and sealed .
Dont wont the fule eating up at my weathering

Well I have about four flights on it now. This is the best $100 ARF I have ever owned. Hauls the mail, but slows waaaaaaaay down with full flaps. Make sure you keep the pressusre back on the stick on rollout. Those airfoiled horz stabs keep flying pretty late. Just like a full sized Fury it also comes in with a nose down attitude. Once it's on the ground you are by no means done flying. It tracks perfect, but the tail just doesn't come down until it's going very slow.

Rusty , thats a difficult guess , when you vistit there home site they show two seafury with differant item numbers but they do not show why the planes are differant . I know from my talk with wills , they are very very difficult to get straight answers .
You should ask them , because I know they are still selling two versions

LDM, Unfortunately, they don't response to my message so until that happens it means no sale although the price lately is hard to pass up even if I don't have an answer. Nonetheless, thanks for the response.

I agree with you , trust me the plane is great overall but , the bash to get the retracts in was major , and based on my work , the retracts end up on and behind the CG when retracted .
This adds to my tail heavey problem . I have never build a warbird ever that was tail heavy to the point of this model . I know the top flight seafury can be tail heavy but with careful planning that can be advoided in the building stateges .
I moved everything as far forward as I could , added a giant battery to the front end and still need 12pz of dead weight to get her balance . To me adding almost a pound is totally disappointing because it detract from the performace while adding nothing !!!!!

The overall quality of te cowl , fuse and wings was very good , instructions suck , I refferanced the Top Flight manuals for CG because they are very explicit on wheer to measure from based on the plastic radiator scoops that extend from the wing

If your in Australia don't by the "YH Models" 66" 90 4 stroke Sea Fury on ebay

Got mine today. Total piece of crap.

Soft fuse. Wing saddle is out of whack, blind nuts for the wing bolts are out of alignment, the horizontal stabiliser wooden dowels are installed on an angle so you cant install the stab, fuel tank exit on the firewall is out of alignment, tail gear collars dont fit the shaft.
I havent looked at anything else. Was scared what else I would find.

Another thing that surprised me is they supply aluminum fuel pipes for the tank. As far as I am aware Glow fuel will eventually eat aluminum? I know methanol will eat aluminum eventually.

49 of them currently for sale on ebay. Avoid like the plague.

I may have gotten a bad one having said all that. But sounds like these are the dodgy Willhobby? ones that were for sale in the U.S.
May not be the sellers fault either. He may have thought he scored buying 50 of these planes cheap from either China or wherever.
I emailed the company and will post back here when/if they contact me.
