Default ARf - sea fury on E-Bay -

I was looking on Ebay and hit in sea fury , found a nice looking arf going for $152 plus $45 shipping , the sellers name is Yuegin , and the plane has a fiberglass fuse and balsa wings and flaps . Has anyone seen this plane or know about the quality of the ARf from this guy ?
I tried to post his address but it dose not work so if you can help just go to ebay and hit in seafury , you will find this seller and the plane has a 66" span

I just purchased a 73" p40 from the same guy. He replies quickly to emails, has good feedback on ebay, and ships the product out reasonably quick. I have a tracking number for the p40 but will not receive it untill thursday. I'll try to get back to you then, to give more feedback.

The flaps on that one would need to be modified into split flaps. I have my eyes on the new KMP/YT International Sea Fury, which does have scale split flaps:

i got the 120 P47D from him, i purchased via ebay on a saturday, paid via paypal immediatly and plane was here the following thursday..... i can snap pix of the kit if you would like. oh what the heck i ll grab the cam.... the kit does come as stated in the ebay add. it is of good or above average quality. is stronger than i expected it to be. fuse is stable and rigid. when i got the kit, i opened the shipping box and had to open the kit box.... kit was well packaged and arrived in a1 shape. all things as they should be...the first thing i grabbed was the destructions.. unfortunatly, though they have Nice illistrations, the whole sheet has maybe 20 words on it total.... dont count on step by steps. all packages appear complete and unopened as the kit box was.....
i would say the overall quality of the kit is maybe 8 or 9 out of 10 for fit, build... at a dry fit, all parts lined up nicely. even the belly pan fit well on mock up....
but the directions i give a 2 or 3 out of 10. when you get yours you ll see y i give the instructions a low score.

in the closeup of the bottom of the wing you ll see the outline for the preformed retratable bay to be cut if useing retrats. i will be replaceing the stock fixed foam wheel lg (showed in pic, with the Rhom Air retracts and rubber wheels also in pic, also will be getting a tailwheel retract i have yet to buy.

my 120 will be powered by the shown Tartan 44 Single. awaiting needle valve from LHS. tomorrow hopefully. theres a thread on the tartan in the glow engine forum if interested in the tartan further.

one pic shows a portion of the fuse just rear of the cockpit. it appears to be air brake panals molded into the fuse... i will be modding this section to customize working airbrakes. have it all planned out. will use one micro servo in a push/push configuration for operating the air brakes. the rear of the fuse will need slight braceing added to support the airbrake servo and another fuse rib support brace will be cut to fit into the fuse just infront of the airbrake area to strenthen fuse for the added cuts...

i will probably be starting this warbird next weekend.. if all goes well i ll probably pic up one of the c120 he sells...

the company is in china, found the website and took alook around. appears to be a nice clean facility. they have many other ARFs available. and are currently widening their product line, if i dont do the C120, then my next kit from them will be the Zero.

i ll post my build progress in the kit building forum... check it out for furher details of all the mods i will be doing to this what i would call Nicely detailed and solid ARF.
my opinions, no one elses.

Tim

if you take not of pix 3/4 and 7/8, this is the location of what im calling the airbrakes molded inot the fuse..... you can see them pretty good on the inside of the fuse in 3/4, pic 8 shows an ok shot of the outter section of the air brakes....

Thanks guys , the P47 looks like the same model as the Aka version .
Richard if the flaps on the seafury are not attached I could easily design split flaps without a major cutting job .

66 inch span I guess a 120 is in order and a good set of retracts , any suggestion on retracts for this plane ?

What Sea Fury was the plug maker looking at when he created the fuse plug for this airplane? The exhaust area is just rediculous.

im useing a set of Rohm Air retracts for the wing gear, though im not sure whan i ll put on for the tail wheel, i may leave it fixed for now. considering their is enough room for a rear retract, which thre is, the main problem i see would be, haveing to assemble the support/braceing structure in the rear of the plane... it may be possible, but alot more dry fitting to build and assemble on the bench and then fit the whole assembly into the rear of the plane as a full unit.. eithr way will be a pain as their is no access except from the front wing mounting location. the tail section comes with the rudder wook installded and glued in. so its build the tail wheel retract in the rear, or outside and fit it in... tough..

That's the only thing I do not like about the plane. Maybe it's possible to modify the exhaust area.

I don't see the split flaps you are talking about . Do you mean they are seperate left and right ?

Split flaps mean flaps like those on the P-40 and FW190. They split open and only the bottom half of each flap deflects downward, unlike those on a Mustang.

Here are some pics of the real Sea Fury:

The flaps are only visible when viewed from the bottom of the wing.

I have owned the ver. 1 of this aircraft for some 2 1/2 years. The model is produced at ESM in China and is sold around the world under different names. KMP in the US and Canada, YT in England and ESM in Australia.

My opinion on the aircraft is mixed. The machine flies beautifully. the ground handling of the ver. 1 Sea Fury leaves a lot to be desired. The wheels are too small and the u/c rake angle is way to small leading to frequent nose overs and subsequent damage. If the ver.2 retains these characteristics then I would mod it for larger wheels and rake the u/c forward to a more scale position.

The original had a huge, one piece flap extending under the fuselage. This worked too well and I had to learn the hard way that heaps of power is required on approach to prevent the model from slowing excessively. The ver. 2 scale split flaps should rectify this problem and landings should become more predictable.

The original had the "generation 2" retracts (sort of spring air copy) which were totally inadequate for operating this model from grass. The generation 3 retracts look more substantial and should hold up better under rough field conditions.

My Sea Fury has a Zenoah G26 for power. The huge cowl swallows this engine and the only protrusions were the intake velocity stack, the muffler overboard pipes and the spark plug and lead. This engine gives just the right amount of power and as an added bonus, eliminates the need for nose weight to balance the model.

To sum up. The Ver.1 had some ground handling problems but was magnificient in the air. If ESM/KMP/YT have addressed the wheel size and u/c rake angle problems as they have the flap problem then this should be a beautiful model and well worth the asking price.

Hope this helps.

No worries Tim, a pleasure to share what info I have on this beautiful warbird.

I have had a quick look on ebay but cannot see the model advertised there. If you can see it would you mind posting a link?

What chinese company makes these models?? They look very different from the CMP line.
I also have the original KMP 72" Sea Fury and agree with Seahawk completely about the lousy ground handling of that plane. I have the OS 120 pumper in that plane which is way underpowered. Still too lazy to put in the Moki 180 I have laying around. Will have to modify the gear for forward rake in that poorly designed KMP sea fury.

I think there is a lot of confusion here ,
1)the ebay version is not CMP or KMP , its a 66" version , balsa wing , fiberglass fuse no retracts . Go to willhobbys , you can see the factory and the other "CMP look a likes they offer " .
The tail is not scale at all , no split flaps but it does have flaps , nice paint job on the fuse and an attempt at some scale rendition of the color pattern .
You can instnat buy this plane for $169 plus $45 shipping unless it goes on bid and you can get it for less .
Under the CMP P40 post you can go directly to the web site and see the P40 as well as other knock offs . The P40 is a steal , I paid $279 for the real CMP P40 73 and the knock off is selling as low as $100 on bid plus shipping , not bad in my book .

Back to the sea fury , as stated before unless the flaps are factory attached and the tail is factory attached making them scale will be an easy fix , once I get delivery I will post pics and see how the quality really looks up close .
