I would like some input from you fellows as to the quality of these kits. I am interested in the AT-6,but I have no experience with these folks as to their quality. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Gaines, stay away from them. Very low quality, poor covering, bad fit of parts, and overall construction leaves a lot to be desired. The only good thing about them is the price. If you want an ARF I would go with H-9 or GP. They have been around for a while.

Harry;
I had a feeling that was going to be the case when I saw the prices. The only reason I was looking,was I am a At-6 nut and I cannot find an ARF the size I want. Thanks alot for the reply!

Dasintex;
I have seen the H9 plane and it is too small. I am looking for something I can put a gasser on. I will check out VQ models. Thanks for the response.

They are not the best quality on the market, but you can't go wrong with the price for the size plane. Instructions are almost useless so if you can't determine how a plane goes together without them you will be in trouble. There are lots of guys who like the big AT-6. I have the FW-190 and am happy with it for what I paid ($209 delivered). I planned on repainting it before I bought it so the covering was not an issue for me. They come painted. The paint on the wings is over clear covering that is still shiny. The paint will flake off since it has nothing to stick to. If they would have scuffed the shine off the clear covering the paint would be fine. Do a search on here for CMP AT-6 and you will find lots of info about that plane.

CMP planes have their own luandry list of problems..
- Terrible instructions, half the time you have to correct almost 50% of the construction, the Cg on all their planes are off, they skip a lot of steps, half the time the instruction expect you to do something that clearly isn't even possible on the kit! You can expect tons of mods to compensate for the contruction/instructions.
- PAINT CHIPS, omg, don't even get me started on this... the paint chips every where and all the time on the wings, better stock up on replacement paints from home depot...
- HEAVY, the fiberglass fuse and overbuilt aircraft come in 2-3 lbs heavier then a built up balsa/plywood would come out. All the 40 size planes have a stall form hell...
- RIPP-OFF replacement part prices, if you break something, buy the whole kit, its much cheaper.
- Eventually the fiberglass will become ungluded to the wood spars and you will have to go back and reglue... not fun.
- Repairs suck: Fiberglass fuse... Foam core wings[:'(]

Saturday (4/15/06) I bought a CMP Zero, 71" (1.20 size) from a guy in our club. I'm definately no expert on ARF's, but for the price I think the CMP ARF's are an acceptable product.
There is a thread that I found on RCU last night, started by the new importer for CMP, I would advise reading this thread, it's very informative RE: the CMP planes. If I where to buy a new CMP ARF, I would definately buy from him (AK-Models). Everything that I have read or heard about giantscaleplanes.com is always bad.

Hello,
I also have a Zero, I think it was from CMP.In Germany or Austria we can buy this as MBL-model.
She will have her Maiden flight maybe next week.
Did You have Flying the Zero?
I have weathered the Model, so I think she looks good.

Yes, I have flown mine twice. It is balanced, but flies as if it where very tail heavy. After carefully checking the horizontal stab and wing, I have found that the Horizontal stab is negative 1.5 degrees (on leading edge). This is what produced the "tail heavy" flight charicteristics on mine. I did not assemble the plane, like I said, I purchased the plane from another guy in my club. I don't know if this is a manucatering defect, or bad assembly. In any event, I will have to pull or cut the horizontal stab off my plane and place it back on correctly. I would advise carefully checking your plane (if you have not already done so).
Please PM me and let me know how it flies.
good luck!

If this is the same model as mine, and I think yes, then you will have a little problem.
When you will change the tail, please check up before, cause there are two Aliminium joiner.
best wishes
Klaus
