Default Retract fail safe

I just picked up one of these Tamjets gear fail safe's for my Byron corsair. It's supposed to be a failsafe for when the air pressure drops to a certain level, it will automatically drop the gear for you. It looks like it will also be a failsaife if i turn the radio on with the gear switch in the up position.

I know it will probably save me some scrapes and having to repaint the bottom of my airplane!

Here's a photo of the package. I should have it in my airplane by this weekend so I can check it out. At least it's small and light..

I finally found some time to install this thing in my airplane. Works great so far. I set the pressure I wanted it to fail safe at, leaked some air, and bam the gear dropped as soon as it got to 60psi. I haven't flown it yet, and I'm even contemplating leaving the pressure low and watching to see if it drops the gear for me.

Here's a pic of the unit in my corsair. There's a piece of velcro on the back and it just sits on the fuse side next to the retract servo/valve.

Chris thanks, thats pretty cool. Do anymore tests over the weekend?

The timing of this thread is funny cause I'm working on my TF 60 Corsair and I'm at the wing and was thinking about the loss of airpressure trashing what I'm taking so long to line-up in a few seconds. Thanks for posting my answer unknowingly.

Paul, I'm going to try and fly with it this weekend. One of the guys at the field has been using it in his F-18 and it's been working great.

I think it's small enough that it would fit even in your 60 size Corsair.
